KY-SEN: Booker defeats McGrath in Kentucky Democratic Senate primary

Charles Booker is projected to win the Kentucky Democratic Senate primary on Tuesday, according to Decision Desk HQ, defeating Amy McGrath in the race to succeed retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

The victory came six years after McGrath, a retired Marine fighter pilot, narrowly defeated Booker in the primary for the seat, winning 45 percent of the vote to Booker’s 43 percent. McGrath went on to lose in the general election by nearly 20 points.

Booker, a former state representative, later mounted another Senate bid in 2022, easily winning the Democratic primary before losing to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) by nearly 24 points.

He will face off against Rep. Andy Barr (R), who was projected to receive the GOP nod earlier Tuesday.

Remember Howard Dean‘s bat? I found that very persuasive and motivating.

I wonder if we could do something like that here I really don’t even know where to start

So I’m not going to wait

Either a person with a winnable message who cant balance a checkbook

Or a person with massive resources without a winnable message.

Lose/ lose situation really

Only maybe Andy Beshear might have had a chance, but he has his eyes set on the Presidency. If your going to lose you might as well pick the more progressive candidate and start playing the long game to push the culture forward. McGrath got destroyed in Louisville,Lexington and almost all the counties that surround Lexington and Bowling Green too. If a Democrat is even going to have chance at miracle upset then they must do well in those localities and given that McGrath wasn't even competitive there against Booker there was no way she would beat a republican in the general. She even lost Hardin County to Booker where Fort Knox is despite her military background. Booker does have much chance either, but he probably has a slightly better chance then McGrath would've based on what happened in the primary.
