The vast majority of businesses say they're investing in generative artificial intelligence, but many are struggling to answer one high-stakes question: Where's the ROI?
According to newly available research from organization design and planning platform Orgvue, 92% of surveyed senior decision-makers said their companies have invested in AI tools and technology, up from 88% in 2025 and 82% in 2024. Additionally, 83% of the respondents said their companies are planning to increase their investment this year, up from 80% last year and 77% in 2024.
At the same time, 78% of the respondents said their companies have had AI projects either fail (35%) or remain stuck in a pilot phase (43%), and 32% said they still dont understand how to make AI work for their business.
So why are they investing? In part, there's a fear of missing out: More than half of the business leaders (57%) said they've deployed AI because their competitors have done so.

But, these agentic products they're deploying still need to be supervised by a human babysitter...for now.
