I have seen a site that lets you watch streaming shows at your computer after you log into your account with your cable provider -- like I would be watching TV on my computer instead of on cable TV, when I had that option. Well, I don't -- we dropped WOW!, the worst company ever (not just worst cable company, or worst utility, but worst.company.ever) and are reluctant to sign up with other cable providers. I was hoping that Sling Orange would be the answer but the more I learn about Sling the less I'm inclined to do business with them. I really just want the absolute cheapest access to MSNOW and am not really after any other channels (we do get local stations OTA, and there are several).
I thought MSNOW was going to be offering streaming on its own soon, but that doesn't seem to be coming to pass.
At one point, there were several sites I could connect to to watch MSNOW, but they had all serious dropouts and other problems -- now they all seem to be infected with malware that wants to install McAfee on my computer. Here are some that worked before, don't now:

(42,450 posts)The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support.
Apparently they decided to "update" their video format or something, and my old Firefox doesn't support it.

(10,089 posts)I dont get any malware from it at all. What makes you say it has malware?

(42,450 posts)All I see is a black mini-screen with "click to play the live stream", but it doesn't respond to any controls.
I'm trying to retire this old computer (and OS) but swapping disk partitions between machines is going to take a while. I have multiple partitions on each disk and older/newer OSs on different partitions. (Plus two of them are in all-in-ones).

(8,158 posts)There have been some subtle changes to how https://livenewschat.eu/msnbc-live-stream/ works.
You have to scroll down to the small screen, past a blank area of the page, click on the arrow, and then enlarge it to full screen. Seems like the number of intrusive ads have increased.
Often, there will be a condensed version, without the ads, posted later on YouTube.

Thanks, jmbar2 ! I suspect you didn't really do anything either
, but if you hadn't responded I wouldn't have tried again!

(463 posts)I know what you mean about the intrusive ads, but if you full screen it, don't those ads disappear?

(42,450 posts)I rebooted by fiberoptic modem to see if that was the problem; it seems a little faster but that's all.

(18,102 posts)We didnt upgrade so we get ads, but it has a lot of the major channels including MS NOW.

(5,424 posts)You can watch ABC with their live streaming service, as well as any other network, like NBC, CBS, FX, etc. They offer live streaming, as well as their own shows, such as The Handmaid's Tale.

(25,708 posts)All the consolidations and reshufflings have made the media landscape downright confusing. Treacherous, too.

(5,424 posts)But now they are part of Disney. There's a monthly (or yearly) fee. I think you could probably also get MSNow on your TV with YouTube's TV streaming service. There are several similar options (like Sling) that will work on your TV if it is a smart TV. You may also need a Roku or FireStick. We have a nice Sony smart TV, but we use a Roku for streaming because it is so easy to use. I don't know if any of that is helpful for you, but I tried. We have no reason to stream television on our computers because this works so much better.

I don't know why it no longer connects for you. We have a mixture of modern and ancient macOS machines.
I'd be tempted to power-cycle computers and routers to make sure it's not something trivial that's breaking things.
