Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced Thursday that he was introducing a constitutional amendment to end birthright citizenship.

“Under current interpretations of American law, anyone born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, regardless of whether the parent was here legally or not,” Paul wrote in a lengthy post on X. “This is wrong and not at all the intent of those who wrote the 14th Amendment.”

Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in Trump v. Barbara, a case challenging President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship. A ruling is expected by the end of June or early July.

They didn't want evil laws like slavery preventing people from gaining citizenship.

They carved out "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" to exempt children born to foreign diplomats or hostile forces, but other than that, they meant everybody.

Most particularly, they absolutely meant to give citizenship to a discriminated minority. They did NOT mean that citizenship could be withheld to increase the whiteness of America.

Republican as usual as completely ignoring obvious truths and just making crap up.

This just pisses me the hell off. These a'holes don't give a damn about this country, its past, its traditions, its constitution, and yes, its future.

Anyone who even does surface level research on this will quickly find out. That there were court cases when the people who wrote the law were still alive told you exactly what it meant and still there were some Judges that tried to make it mean what they wanted it to mean. Even the people in Congress who were not in favor of it knew what it meant. I'm not surprised conservatives/libertarians like Rand Paul have always tried to interpret the constitution as there own personal wish list. For the idiots who think this might be a good thing, because they don't like immigrants or minorities they better careful, because that could take us in a direction where the Government can strip citizenship from anyone they want. So they'll have to remain boot lickers for the rest of their days.
