Democratic Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice leaves party over antisemitism.

?s=20

@StephenJ_Caruso
Inbox: Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice David Wecht, first elected as a Democrat in 2015 and retained last year, says in a statement he is "no longer registered within any political party," because "acquiescence to Jew-hatred is now disturbingly common" in the Democratic Party.

From my observation, there are three prevalent attitudes among American voters about all of this.

(1) The Israel-Can-Do-No-Wrong Lobby. These are the folks who will justify anything and everything Israel does in response to October 7. This group will brook no criticism of Israel or its current government, or, in some cases, they will pay lip service to some very mild criticism of the Israeli government's actions, They ignore the long and very troubled history that surrounds the creation of modern Israel and its history of mistreatment of the Palestinians;

(2) Those believe Israel has a right to exist and to defend itself (including responding to the October 7 attacks), but nevertheless believe there must be limits on the kind of response Israel undertakes; and

(3) The Israel-Can-Do-Nothing-Good-or-Right lobby. This group is the inverse of group (1), and will find reason to take issue with anything Israel does in response to Oct. 7.

Among Jewish friends of mine, they seem to be found across groups (1) and (2). There are both religious and secular Jews in both groups.

In addition to pro-Israeli hardliners, Group (1) consists also of some less religious and more secular Jews who are deeply emotionally invested in the very idea of Israel. For these folks, it is very difficult for them to consider even the possibility that Israel, which they've long held up in their minds as a kind of utopia, could possibly ever do anything that is morally or ethically questionable. If you try to confront them with evidence of Israeli wrongdoing, they either just shut down, or they respond that all of the evidence is "anti-Israel propaganda."

And among both groups (1) and (3), there are elements trying to force those in group (2) to one side or the other. Those like this in group (1) will, as I said above, dismiss almost any evidence of things Israel as done as anti-Semitic propaganda, and will reject out of hand the possibility that one can be critical of the current Israeli government without being Anti-Semitic. And those of this ilk in Group (3) want to reduce everything about the conflict to a question of Israeli oppression and Palestinian victimhood. And BOTH sides want to consider the conflict very selectively, and will insist that any evidence contrary to their respective narratives must be discounted or dismissed.

The Gaza & Lebanon bombings by Netanyahu, and the Israeli Far-Right-Likud/IDF
over these last 2 years (with our bombs and $) is creating a LOT of Anti-Semitic
sentiment right here in America!! Especially among young people!
I am quite able to separate the Jewish Faith and regular Jewish
citizens, here and in Israel -from the Netanyahu/IDF Regime.

Increasingly, A lot of Americans now, are NOT making that distinction!!

For the umpteenth time: Opposition to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, expansion of illegal settlements, killing of innocent Palestinians or support of the Palestinian people (who are NOT Hamas) is NOT "antisemitism." There are some fringe elements on the left that take this to the extreme, of course, however, the Democratic Party does not support the extremists and condemns them (i.e. Hasan Piker). Of course, there are plenty in the Republican Party who *are* openly antisemitic AND platformed by the Republican Party. I don't understand where people like Fetterman and this Judge are getting the idea that it's the Democratic Party that has become a hotbed of antisemitism????

Not sure what he wants the Democratic Party to do about this exactly. I’d love to hear some specific policy requests from him. My guess is he’s an AIPAC type and he’s butt hurt that a lot of Dems don’t like what Israel is doing.

He should be ashamed for sticking to an apartheid regime that murders the indigenous Palestinians in cold blood. Zionism is a great evil that needs to perished off the face of the earth. Israel needs to be dismantle and replaced with a one secular state that gives equal rights to Christians, Jews, Muslims and other faiths/no faith.

Many great Jews have speaker out against Zionism. Look at the great work being done by Katie Halper and Max Blumenthal on the crimes of Israel. We need more Jews to come out and speak out against the evil of Zionism.
