The bottomless pit of hypocrisy ahead of Trumps May 14-15 trip to China to discuss trade, technology, and security..

Democrat Senator Elisa Slotkin is cautioning Canada making trade deals with China involving Chinese EV's, "we don't like watching a decision to let Chinese vehicles into Canada. That's not something we want in the United States." Slotkin explained her concerns with a Chinese-made EV sending back 3D video and geolocation data, which could be "hacked back to Beijing." "They're national security issues, not just economic security issues," Slotkin said.
Initially Trump was indifferent to a Canada-China trade deal but has since threatened 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada "makes a deal with China."

So Trump wrecks trade with America's top trading partners with his idiotic consumer tax (a.k.a. tariffs) and then he has his feelings hurt when the partners look elsewhere. As he embarks on a trip to China.
Comedy really does write itself sometimes.

We can get them to build plants in the US like Toyota and Honda. The EVs are superior to Musk's product and its not like Musk is some super patriot... feels like picking winners and losers.

10. We already have Chinese EV's. As of the end of 2025 Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory had produced over 4 million vehicles.

I wonder how many of those were sold in the U.S.
