Wow! Interesting piece on airlines' potential legal liability if they allow passengers to wear smart glasses

This LinkedIn piece

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/airline-captain-cousin-vinny-flight-could-change-forever-kennedy-derje/

was written by someone in the Boston area who's worked in the insurance industry for decades.

Found it via this Bluesky post that won't appear here automatically, so I'm posting it with spaces:

https:// bsky. app/profile/ kentindell.bsky.social/post/3mliz76wbfs22

That post has replies complaining about how badly the LinkedIn piece was written (possibly with AI, and with lots of lines only a few words long and paragraphs turned into lists) and also wondering if it's a true story. I'm posting it anyway because it brings up good points about harm that could be done by anyone wearing smart glasses in a plane cabin, and what liability the airline might have as a result.

The guy who posted this on Bluesky also linked to an article from The Independent on ways airlines can already restrict filming and photography during flights: https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/pictures-filming-flights-airline-rules-b2922770.html

You'll be scrolling a lot reading the LinkedIn piece since there are often only a few words per line. But it's worth the read anyway:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/airline-captain-cousin-vinny-flight-could-change-forever-kennedy-derje/

“What if a nefarious person had the capability to utilize smart glasses on an airplane?”

At first, he looked at me like I was talking science fiction.

Then I started mapping the problem.

"out of the bag," that unless they stick it right in your face and refuse to remove it, I doubt much can be done. But, I can certainly imagine how smart glasses with AI would be infinitely more dangerous on many levels.
