A pastor who has spent years stumping for Trump, speaking at rallies, blessing campaigns shouldnât be lecturing the Pope about "separate roles" of church and state.

If you want to be a fullâtime political operative, fine, but then stop hiding behind taxâexempt "ministry" status while you do it.
Dear Pastor Jeffries, the Bible says thou shalt have no gods before me. What's up with that golden statue of trump?

Yeah

I suppose technically he teaches the Bible
He's kind of a guy of who not to be
For example the seven deadly sins
How many "Christians" would literally teach their children to be like Donald Trump?

(106,517 posts)bearing false witness against the Pope (by lying about what's in the Bible). And he knows it. Now, he could argue that the secular Trump is making secular decisions despite what the Bible says (though I would say those are still crap decisions), but there's no way someone who makes his money by being a pastor should be lying so obviously about the Bible.

(1,250 posts)That pastor is just wrong.
Norman Vincent Peale was Trump's childhood pastor.
He taught a Positive Thinking philosophy, precursor to Prosperity Gospel.
He was anti-Catholic; he was one of those ministers who said a Catholic could not be President when JFK was running.
He was a defender of capitalism.
There are traces in Trump into what Peale taught; such as Trump's "magical thinking"

Are we seeing traces of Trump's hatred of Pope from his childhood pastor.

Most of them will identify as repuglicons, but they'll pivot to whatever's needed.
