If there were a way for Trump to humiliate me (and many like me) even more than to hold a UFC-WWE (something I absolutely detest to the point it makes my skin crawl) on the WH lawn, I am hard-pressed to name one. I suppose maybe female mud wrestling using scantily dressed midgets or something equally exploitative, but damn.

That phrase: "Kill me. Kill me now!" is only going to be in greater use in coming weeks/days/years. sigh...

Supposedly scheduled for just 5 weeks from now, but they're doing no construction and no promotion as far as can see. I'm pretty sure this is just another vehicle to solicit "donations" that go straight into the Trump family's pocket.

I usually watch PGA events on TV and in person, but I wasn't even tempted to see one minute of last week's tournament. Hopefully the Golf Channel's and CBS's ratings were in the toilet too.

Trump has wiped his galactic-sized ass with the emoluments clause.

Tickets have dropped to $39 a pair if you buy them at the course, or, you can get them for $25 a pair at local sporting goods stores (who report they can't give them away).

Meanwhile, the Saudis have pulled all funding from LIV, leaving what's left of LIV to announce the dissolution.

It curried favor between Oval Office Abortion 1 and Oval Office Abortion 2.

Now that things have gone to shit in the Persian Gulf, thanks to their "investment", the Saudis have better things to do with their money.

Building pipelines, for example, or repairing refineries.

In my opinion, he is a narcissistic megalomaniac, in the clinical sense, and generally in an environment that is actively protecting him from reality. He could not be more of a dangerous situation for his ongoing mental health and stability. I genuinely believe he is headed for a significant mental health crisis that will be impossible for his handlers to cover up.

I mean his approval has been in the toilet for weeks yet I clearly remember him saying about a week ago that he was the most popular president in history. I mean literally calling himself a god recently.
None of that is healthy or normal. And the mask is about to come off this situation. Sooner rather than later.

No matter who hosted it. To me golf is on par with soccer, curling and car racing as being the most boring "sports" to watch.

I am curious at to the real reason for low attendance. For some inexplicable reason Trump is loved here in Red State Florida, especially in the Miami area. Maybe there are people just like me that really don't want to watch other people play golf.

Although it would be nice if that was the reason I doubt the low attendance was because Trump's name was involved. However, I could be wrong.

Instead of seeing your own grave, you are getting a glimpse at how completely forgotten you will be minutes after your long awaited and anticipated demise.

You will be forgotten by 90% of the world before your stinking carcass is cold. Another 7-9% of the population will forget you ever existed within days to weeks. For an attention whore like Two-Scoops, this ultimate fate - obscurity and oblivion - is the worst thing imaginable. He believes that everyone gives a fuck about him and he is utterly wrong. He's a circus or rodeo clown after the big top is taken down and the event is over - utterly worthless.

Thu May 7, 2026, 11:16 AM

This appears to be a slight exaggeration.

At the 18th green when Young arrived and the crowds were allowed to come up the fairway, I would guesstimate that at least 2000 people were on the fairway near the green, and others were in the stands/boxes.

Were the big-roller boxes rather thin of company? Yes. Was the crowd-assembled bolstered by volunteers and other staff taking a look? Probably. Was this far less than usual? I think so. But it wasn't the vacant look of a mctournament on Thursday morning nor the look of the LPGA Chevron major being played the prior weekend (to be fair, underpromoted in a new city), nor the echo box of when the Senior PGA tournament (a major) was being played in 2017 at Thump's course near DC. ((I was a volunteer for many years at the local mctournament and also did so at the 2017 SPGA.))

IMO, I think some stayed away, despite the return to Doral, because of the ownership factor (and the zoo his presence undoubtedly caused), and others just didn't want to pay for what they could see for free on the TV. But, some did show up.

32. 100 People Is Wrong
Thu May 7, 2026, 12:51 PM

I'm glad it was a dud compared to normal, but there were a few hundred people on every hole.
I noted while watching part or all of all 4 days that the crowd looked light, especially for a signature event in Florida.
But, the statement that there were 100 people there is gross hyperbole.
I'm guessing more like 5,000-6,000 per day. By contrast, the Masters had over 20,000 per day, and the Waste Management in Arizone was around 19,000 each day.
On TV, the tournament drew 3.3 million viewers for tye weekend. That's about 75,000 more than last year.
So, it was a dud: but not to the degree described in that post.

I knew the crowds are always big there, but I had no idea it was that high a number! Geez, that's 5,500 people per hole, per day!
Thanks for the correction.
I used to attend the Western Open every year & it was always very well attended, but no way was it 400k.
That's amazing.

Fri May 8, 2026, 03:00 AM

The 16th hole is RAUCOUS! Tiger Woods had a hole in one on the 16th in 1997 and the place went berserk!!

A couple of years ago they had 275,000 on Saturday alone.
The have a concert and lots of partying after on that night.

It's usually on Super Bowl weekend, so the 250,000+ drops to 60,000 on Sunday. A LOT of hangovers and most stay home to watch the Super Bowl. But it is the top attended PGA event on tour.
