... the DOJ.

Not the most damaging or corrupt, but I'm betting it is the most laughable, absurd, ridiculous, preposterous, farcical, nonsensical, asinine, and just downright stupid indictment to make its way out of that office.

I hope the judge whose desk this lands on doesn't end up injured by paroxysms of laughter.

Even at their presser Blanche and Patel keep going back to "We've investigated for a long, long, time." It brought to mind my time as a TA in grad school when a failing undergrad would complain with some variation of "But I worked for hours, and hours, and hours. How can you give me an F on this??"

Perhaps I'm reading in, but to me the entire announcement has an undertone of defensive embarrassment.

And then all the emphasis on "Indicted by grand jury" (i.e., Don't blame us. We just presented "the facts." if it's stupid, not our fault).

Not to mention the bit: "They are career agents, career prosecutors who work these matters." (Note, Patel didn't say "this matter," which means that after the initial interview with Comey, when the secret service dismissed the matter as trivial, "this matter" was NOT worked by career people.)

And then the idiocy of tryiing to imply Comey had some "guilty knowledge" because he apologized and deleted the post. (Which was effectively an "If you say 8647 means anything beyond throwing out 47 as you would a disruptive drunk from a bar, OK. Didn't mean that to me. Sorry. It's gone." )

Anyway, I have NO DOUBT they know EXACTLY how absurd it is, but Blanche is auditioning for AG and is willing to humiliate himself to prove he will jump through any hoop the felon-in-chief asks of him, however ludicrous.

From Patel:

These cases take time. Our investigators work methodically. They are career agents, career prosecutors who work these matters. They call the balls and strikes in the field as they see fit pursuant to the facts of the case and the law. They took that information and made a presentment to a grand jury. A jury of a peers in the district in which the alleged crime took place, and that grand jury spoke, and that grand jury returned a two count indictment against James Comey. James Comey allegedly threatened the life of the President of the United States. And as you all now know, shortly after posting that threat, he deleted that threat and then issued an apology. All of that information was presented to the grand jury, and Mr. Comey will have his day in court and his ability to speak to a jury of his peers. Thank you.

... groveling and humiliating themselves as they submit to every felon demand is both horrific -- because of the consequences -- and cringe-worthy (as hateful and evil as they are, I can't help but feel a little vicarious shame for these pitiful creatures).

We cannot forget that for every one step-backwards they manage to take this nation we have stopped dozens of evils through lawsuits from state AGs, ACLU, AFGE, NFFE, and countless other organizations, resistance from state legislatures, resistance from other nations, and the actions of citizen lobbyists and We the People).

Certainly, we must recognize the damage, and have a clear-eyed understanding of what we are up-against, but this regime is WEAK. They are desperate. And we have had SO MANY victories.

The public has turned on them. Will it be enough to win the U.S. House and U.S. Senate? Time will tell. But EVERYTHING the felon tries to do to assert dominance and take hold of the "narrative" is FAILING. Even their attempt to get a "bump" in the polls out of the attempted attack at the WHCA dinner has failed. For example, see "Selected Pollsters" tab in the following (Ipsos is the most recent, covering 4/24-4/27, with the attempted attack taking place 4/25):

It seems more that if an ex-FBI director can be indicted for a photo spelling a term of art long used by the hospitality industry in seashells, one better be careful how they disagree with this administration. That Comey probably won’t be get convicted if it even goes to trial doesn’t matter as much as the amount of public dissent this and other frivolous indictments and lawsuits will quell. Many of our lives would be impacted greatly by such an indictment as we would if we were detained by ICE. This administration can do a lot of harm to people where no remedy is adequate or in some cases even exists. The message is don’t interfere or criticize administration policy because if you do you might be breaking a law to be determined by us. Trump wants people to know who carries both the carrot and the stick and that their use will not be entirely predictable.

The defense to show that the DOJ is being retaliatory on Trump’s order. Possible that Comey will win a Civil case and receive compensation for his treatment.

Of course "The Donald" wouldn't pay the damages. It would be the American taxpayers, but the government has wasted money on far worse things.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-isnt-immune-from-civil-claims-that-his-jan-6-rally-speech-incited-riot-judge-rules

And as the PERSONAL corruption that he, his cronies, and members of his family have perpetrated is delineated, there is no way most of those acts can be deemed "presidential duties" to which immunity applies. Sure, the black-robed traitors on SCOTUS may try it, but I suspect it will be a bridge too far for at least two of them.

I suspect that there are many avenues holding the perpetrators personally liable. Perhaps even State AG's could make a case that his personal corruption has inflicted reputational damage that has cost x, y, or z. (I imagine there are plenty of specific instances that can be tied to the "halo" of corruption cast by the personal corruption of a man, and the family and associates of that man, holding our highest office).

They wanted their cult followers to assassinate Biden, when they printed those t-shirts. They therefore assume that Comey intended that others to assassinate 47.

It will be quietly dropped just like the last Comey indictment. There just ain't no there there to prosecute. It's is an interesting version of tilting at windmills because Donnie said to. A complete waste of everyone's time.

laws protecting people from SLAPP (Strategic lawsuit against public participation) lawsuits. These are frivolous lawsuits that are intended to silence someone from using their first amendment rights. We need a very strong and tough federal law passed which protects people's right to participate in public political discourse.
