She moved over 100 miles away from where it happened.
Beanie had a kennel/breeding facility and lost all her animals, possessions, and home. They are still in court over that.
Beanie moved to an area near Yankton, SD. A controlled fire reignited Wednesday. It is only 20% under control. Rain is headed in her direction. We hope the rain gets there first.
The only stories I can find are pay links.
Send some good thoughts her way...

2. Here in CA, we have dry summers, with attendant high fire risk. CalFire has great advice (it's often mandated, not just advice) We all have go bags and are busy right now creating defensible spaces (typically 100 feet around homes)

EDIT TO ADD:
A lot of this information may be too late arriving to help: things involving clearing brush and leaves and so on, but there is a lot of information that can be applied during a fire warning, involving lights, gates, and so on.
Homes in great peril have been surrounded by aluminum foil (or something similar) and many have been saved.
Very best wishes go out for safety of people, animals and property.
The affected county sheriff's office should post warnings and notices, as should their fire department.
Oh, they use "social media" which I avoid like angry bears.
You could check their feeds. (and nothing else)
Watch Duty posts fire maps. Last time I cheked, their app wanted money for tracking firefighting aircraft.

Our county sheriff's office is/was using some notification app/site but I lost the password.

(590 posts)years ago. My place was saved because another area was so far gone, crews were redirected to stop it spreading to my area. I felt such a horrible mix of relief and grief for so many others. I had a number of close friends that lost everything. After a previous close call fire, we became a Firewise Community through the National Fire Protection Association. I so hope your daughter will be safe. Sending caring thoughts and hope for rain, rain, rain.
