2. Here in CA, we have dry summers, with attendant high fire risk. CalFire has great advice (it's often mandated, not just advice) We all have go bags and are busy right now creating defensible spaces (typically 100 feet around homes)

A lot of this information may be too late arriving to help: things involving clearing brush and leaves and so on, but there is a lot of information that can be applied during a fire warning, involving lights, gates, and so on.

Homes in great peril have been surrounded by aluminum foil (or something similar) and many have been saved.

The affected county sheriff's office should post warnings and notices, as should their fire department.

years ago. My place was saved because another area was so far gone, crews were redirected to stop it spreading to my area. I felt such a horrible mix of relief and grief for so many others. I had a number of close friends that lost everything. After a previous close call fire, we became a Firewise Community through the National Fire Protection Association.
