It didn't matter whether the president was a Democrat or a Republican, it was always fun. And when it was the president's turn to respond in kind, it was usually done with grace, humor and dignity. Other than that, these affairs are just a lot of boring self-congratulatory speeches, and incestuous schmoozing between the fourth estate and the public officials they're supposed to be covering.

Trump is completely bereft of any grace, humor or dignity. He's a soulless slug who only wants to hurt and divide. I won't watch.
