https://popular.info/p/the-media-blackout-of-jared-kushnersJudd Legum -- Popular Information
In 2021, Kushner raised $2 billion from the Saudi government's Public Investment Fund (PIF) for his private equity fund, Affinity Partners. Since that time, Kushner has collected more than $110 million in management fees from the Saudi government, according to calculations by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Congressman Robert Garcia (D-CA). Even as he has assumed a central diplomatic role in negotiations with Iran, Kushner has reportedly sought billions more from the Saudis.
Accepting payments from a foreign government while leading diplomacy for the U.S. would be a glaring conflict of interest under any circumstances. But in this case, Kushner was on the Saudi payroll as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), the de facto ruler of the country, reportedly lobbied Trump both to initiate and continue the war.
Popular Information analyzed coverage of Kushner's diplomatic role from the outset of the war with Iran on February 28 to April 19. During that period, 202 articles mentioning Kushner's role representing the U.S. in negotiations with Iran were collectively published by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, CNN Wire, The New York Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, and The Los Angeles Times.
Only six of the 202 articles covering Kushner's diplomatic role mentioned his financial conflict of interest with the Saudi government. That means more than 97% of the coverage ignored Kushner's conflict. Of the six articles that covered the conflict, five appeared in the New York Times. The other article originally appeared in Foreign Policy and was republished by the Washington Post.
The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, CNN Wire, The New York Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, and The Los Angeles Times collectively published dozens of articles about Kushner's diplomatic role in the war with Iran but never mentioned the conflict.

I'm not sure "The Media" is involved in a conspiracy to protect Kushner here. And it's not like there's going to be consequences...

For Kushner and Witkoff, C.E.O. Diplomacy Is No Longer Working
April 13, 2026
By Jonathan Guyer
In late March, Jared Kushner sat woodenly on the stage of a Saudi investment conference in Miami. It was 26 days into the Iran war. He was introduced not as President Trumps unofficial envoy but as the founder and chief executive of Affinity Partners. The host of the conference the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, via his personal think tank has thrown billions at Affinity Partners through his sovereign wealth fund. In recent months, Mr. Kushner has sought to raise even more money from the crown prince at the same time as Prince Mohammed has reportedly pushed for a protracted war with Iran.
The moderator wanted to know what Mr. Kushner had learned as a deal maker in peace.
I think peace is not that different than business, Mr. Kushner said. Both things are puzzles, and I try to think about every challenge that Im faced with as a puzzle.
It was a remarkable exchange: Here was Mr. Kushner, onstage at an investment conference, as bombs were falling on Tehran and as the Strait of Hormuz was being booby-trapped by mines. The inability of Mr. Kushner and his partner in diplomacy, Steve Witkoff, to reach a deal with the Iranians in the weeks leading up to the war has led to a catastrophic series of events, with America and Israel killing more than a thousand Iranian civilians, Israel intensifying its attacks on Lebanon and the war expanding across the Middle East.
Mr. Kushner and Mr. Witkoff, the presidents son-in-law and special envoy for peace missions, respectively, represent the Trump mind-set: a rogue version of diplomacy thats focused on the flashy and theatrical, a reflection of the Trump real estate developer ethos. But that ethos has failed, and Iran is proof.

(38,919 posts)They have a vast propaganda network designed to keep hammering a topic until it crosses into the MSM, who are then "reporting the controversy". This is as designed.
RW Media don't care about Kushner's double-dealing in the MD. It serves no purpose for them to create a scandal over it, so they won't.

(38,919 posts)Which Media is "corrupt"? The "MSM" or the RW Media Ecosystem?
Kushner is not "off limits" to the MSM; everyone at DU has known about his self-dealing with the Arab Monarchies for years.
But the NYT and WaPo haven't been able to come up with quo of the quid pro quo, because it's mainly just currying favor with Dim Donald.
