The sound was unreal.
The ground vibrated when the funny cars started up.
It was awesome.

and that's why they called them Ground Pounders, you could literally feel the ground pounding beneath the tires.
I also remember when they used gas for the burnouts, but they banned that because of damage the gas did to the track and started using bleach.
