Is Bibi currently turning people more anti-Semitic.

I have read many articles over the last 2 months that many people are very pissed off at Israel more than they have been during the past 15 years. Is Bibi's quest to stay in power hurting the general reputation of Jews and Israel?

How about unchecked settler violence? We see videos of roving bands of men wearing yarmulkes committing acts of violence, and stealing land, while the Israeli soldiers stand by and watch.

This is terrorism by some Jewish people, but not "the Jewish people" who pay the price in more subtle ways.

But, the big war crimes are committed by the Israeli government.

The next generation of antisemitism is being created now, based on actual current events.

Every terrorist act publicized as being caused by Arabs or Muslims contributes to the general Islamophobia.

The pinnacle examples are the events of Sept 11 and Oct 7.

Unfortunately, the actions of Netanyahu and settlers show that Israelis can be as vicious as their neighbors.

>> Or would there be an outcry that the actions of a country do not represent all the people of the same religion?

We are not speaking about rational sentiments and actions.

The question asked by the OP is essentially, what makes antisemitism worse? The answer - actions by Jewish people and the Israeli government.

What makes it better? That's a much harder question. Perhaps only time and good publicity.

What will eliminate it? Nothing short of a major alien invasion that forces us all to band together.

in a manner I never thought possible.

The anger is not at Jews but against the Likud version of Zionism, Christian Zionists, and those that gain by giving support.

The anger and rejection of AIPAC is because AIPAC is a right wing, violent, pro-Greater Israel and pro-Likud organization.

There should be a left-leaning Israeli and American PAC to counter AIPAC, a PAC that favors peace and fairness.

The intent of the present State of Israel is transparent, violent and contrary to what were established international norms and institutions.

Trump was elected POTUS because of Isreal. Trump is the best POTUS ever to Netanyahu and too many Israelis, American Jews, Christian Nationalists and billionaires feasting on the riches of war and disaster capitalism. Biden, Harris and the Democratic party were for a two-state solution and an end to the violence.

American spending for Israel is way out of proportion.

Israel is an apartheid state that is busy with violent ethnic cleansing. Much of the World believes this, not because they are antisemitic, but because they don't like apartheid and ethnic cleansing in general, not just in Israel.

The situation gives free rein for those that are actually Jew haters.

My own answers are Yes, then No.

Same applies to Netanyahu and Israel.

Calling opponents of the Netanyahu administration antisemitic is no more valid than calling opponents of the Trump administration anti-American.

Which is not to say there is no hatred of Jews and Israel in America, Europe, and elsewhere. In fact, it can be credibly asserted that antisemitism is on the rise.

In my view, all hatred based on race and/or religion is ignorant, irrational, and the root of atrocities throughout history. It must be condemned wherever and whenever it raises its ugly head.

So too must governments or any entities that commit atrocities against civilian populations be condemned.

It is not always easy to draw the line between justified self defense and wanton slaughter stemming from hatred or conquest, but as human beings who desire peace and justice in this troubled world it is necessary to draw that line.

I can condemn the Netanyahu government and also condemn antisemitism in the same sentence without contradicting myself.

Israel doesn't matter so long as he can continue rule over a Greater Israel.
At first, he was just a well off Muslim hating right wing corrupt politician with local mob ties.
Now he's a rather deluded well off Mobster politician under indictment who hates Muslims, but uses conflict with them to stave off a trial and hold onto power.
He doesn't care who dies - Arabs, Jews, Palestinians, Druze, civilians, military...
All that matters is that he stays in power, out of jail and keeps making bank off investments and other benefits with his fellow mobster type "business partners"

Netanyahu can suck, the actions of the current Israeli government can suck, and you can avoid being antisemitic. If you let anger or even hatred of a part of a group cause you to hate the entire group, that's a thing you need to address within yourself. Maybe go to therapy or something.

Just like it's a choice to be a racist or sexist or homophobic.

Just because some act is irrational doesn't mean you need to give into it. It's not schizophrenia. Robert Byrd among others learned to reject the klan. Men have walked away from the red pill/incel movement.

I'm sure most of them won't go to therapy. A lot of the people who desperately need therapy won't go.

for the policies such as West Bank settlements, and obliterating Gaza and now turning these tactics to Lebanon.
Protesting atrocities is not equal to antisemitism. I think this keeps getting conflated as one and the same.

Crazies on the far right and far left may be antisemites, however those protesting for Palestinian rights and being against war crimes does not an antisemite make.

Count me as one who supports Jews and Israels right to exist while at the same time opposes how Netanyahu has conducted his attacks on Gaza, allowed the West Bank violence, and now add Lebanon to the list.

I support the regular people of Israel. The ones who oppose what their government has done in Gaza and now Lebanon. I have to think that makes up the vast majority of the people. Just like we here oppose our criminal government in power now.

People wrongly conflate Jews the world over with the Israeli government. Antismestism itself is an irrational age old pathological hatred, but recent actions by Israel make bigots justify their hatred easier.

Bibi, Likud, the settlers, and their supporters know this but proceed anyways.

It’s not just the Middle East violence causing this though. Given Epstein’s social circles, this has also likely led to increased antisemitism recently. I’m certainly seeing an uptick in the “jews own the media” trope recently in Reddit and other online communities.

People already anti-Semitic are given more ammo to use to convince and recruit new people to their cause. For the young person seeing what the RW in Israel is doing makes them more susceptible to the tropes of the anti semitic groups. It makes them more likely to repeat smears. More likely to join groups that are actively anti semitic(AS) More likely to hold AS views as the grow older. And once those views are established it is harder to get people to change. What the RW in Israel, and the government in Israel is doing is evil. What was done on 10/7 was evil. And evil alway creates more hate. It is also self defeating. The view of Israel is much worse in the US and world today because of the actions of the Israel government. The dream of the RW in Israel is to ethically cleanse the west bank and Giza. And they are actively trying to do that. And that is evil. And when you do evil, or suppose evil, Or are thought to be supporting evil people think less of you. And people in general do not make the distinction between a Jewish person, Israel, the RW in Israel, the government in Israel.etc. For many it is just ‘the Jews’. It is not fair, not right, not rational, not right. But for many it is how the thought process goes. So heck of a Job Bibi.

It’s two separate things. BiBi is a madman and he has the country in a state where they approve genocide and violence. And now they’ve dragged the US into a war on their behalf. I am against all of this regardless of what religion people in Israel have. And these wars and genocide aren’t a reflection in Judaism globally IMO.

And further than I would go, but some people who don’t think Israel should exist are not necessarily being antisemitic either. They simply think they stole that land from people who were previously living there and that stealing land is wrong. I think that part is really complicated.
