Third Way, a centrist Democrat think tank led by president Jonathan Cowan, has quietly launched a massive, well-funded campaign to discredit progressive voices, including Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, and pressure elected Democrats to publicly denounce them. The campaign, first reported by Lauren Egan at The Bulwark, is backed by billionaire donors and has already drawn support from sitting members of Congress.

Between now and Election Day 2028, Third Way plans to spend between $30 million and $50 million, not targeting Trump, not targeting MAGA, not targeting Republicans, but attacking progressives and leftists within their own coalition. Jonathan Cowan was blunt about the goal, stating he would rather lose than include people like Hasan Piker in a big Democratic tent.
