General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI see posts appearing without links or substantiation with things such as Netanyahu has "pictures of trump and Epstein,
with the implications that some sort of blackmail is occurring, or that the DNC is rejecting a resolution against AIPAC influence.
while such statements may make make good fodder to push a certain political agenda, unless things like that can be substantiated with links from reliable sources, it is just either speculation, or worse an attempt to stir up the pot among Democrats.

(1,186 posts)In November 2019, Maria Farmer, an artist who worked for Epstein in 1996, said that Epstein had shown her a hidden room in his New York mansion where he had teams of men monitoring rooms in the home using "pinhole cameras", including the bedrooms and toilets.[190] Epstein implied that he had blackmail material when he told a New York Times reporter in 2018, off the record, that he held incriminating information about powerful people, including information about their sexual proclivities and recreational drug use.[191] In July 2021, Rolling Stone reported that multiple sources, including former arms dealers and former intelligence figures, suggested that Epstein recorded influential individuals in compromising situations.[192] In 2022, Courtney Soerensen alleged that in 1988, Epstein sexually groped her in France while a videographer filmed the encounter.[193] In 2025, Marina Lacerda, an alleged minor victim recruited by Epstein in 2002, described his New York home as being full of cameras with an office in the front of the house dedicated to them.[194]

(9,874 posts)Netanyahu is making decisions that weaken the relationship between Israel and the USA and Israel and the World.
Maybe one should start figuring out how to stop Israel from murdering innocents, destroying priceless cultural items, expanding Israel's borders, systematically damaging international institutions created for peace and attacking humanitarian NGOs and journalists.

(1,888 posts)enough out in the public view, imo, for a successful prosecution but there are significant issues that warrant an investigation and allow, imo, to suggest as an opinion that this is likely the case.
1. Trump was a known long-time associate of Epstein
2. The judge in Epstein's original conviction has stated publicly that Epstein was an "intelligence asset"
3. Testimony of victim's of sexual assault by Trump
4. Trump's "pliability" in matters of finance and foreign policy
I am fine with an, "imo, Trump is being blackmailed with the Epstein files...".

(25,629 posts)1. Because it's clearly opinion/speculation and I invite personal opinions here rather than DU just being another of 100 or so news aggregators, and
2. Statements of fact, or what seems to be fact, do need a reference, and
2a. Some sources are really janky, and
2b. Half the internet traffic is fake/bots. How can one even know? Very (formerly) trustworthy sites admit to using AI to write material.
