Slowly the MAGA leaders are turning against Trump.

And when enough of them turn, then many of his present followers will also turn, in my opinion.

If enough of them turn before the next election, it could be disastrous for Republicans. They must know that?

Several, including Joe Rogan and Marjorie Taylor Green, have publicly called out Trump as unfit and insane. We should expect more to follow.

It is a tough cult to crack. We have not witnessed such a cult in a long time, perhaps never? But there is a small crack in the dam and Trump and the Republicans are hoping and praying to stop the dam from bursting.

Turning away from an identity you've been completely invested in is a big hurdle -- particularly in MAGA strongholds where many believe "everyone" is MAGA (a false belief because at least 1 in 5 was always is anti-MAGA -- those folks are no longer keeping their heads down and the number is growing).

Things can turn around fast. As those who have suppressed doubts so as not to endanger their sense of belonging see others speaking out, those doubts are allowed to take hold and grow. The tide seriously turns when anti-MAGA becomes a "status" group of sorts -- a new group to which one can find that sense of belonging.

Humans are social creatures and social forces are far more powerful than rational thought.

When the podcasters turn away from the cult leader, they turn on the podcasters. When the podcasters come back, which they inevitably will, they’ll be welcomed back.

These cultists are people who have no values, no principles, no morals, they just have blind loyalty. They’ll justify anything the cult leader does, even when it’s diametrically opposite of what he previously “stood” for.

He’s the “no new wars” guy. Starts a war and they love it. He’s the “low prices on day one” guy. Prices go up, they say you need to be patient, the golden age is coming.

You’re attributing reason to people who have none.
