Maddowblog-DOJ ups the ante in its pursuit of Cassidy Hutchinson over her Jan. 6 testimony

Pam Bondi is out, but the criminal investigation she helped launch into the former White House aide has reportedly intensified.

DOJ ups the ante in its pursuit of Cassidy Hutchinson over her Jan. 6 testimony - MS NOW apple.news/ArB2n1uWLTny...

Under normal circumstances, the DOJ would blow off a criminal referral like this, recognizing it as more of a political stunt than a serious recommendation. These are not, however, normal circumstances. The New York Times reported there is a burgeoning case against Hutchinson, and it has been assigned to, of all things, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division. From the article:

The move was a highly unusual one by Justice Department leadership, directing a criminal case that appears to involve accusations of lying to Congress to a specialized unit that normally focuses on systemic civil rights abuses like police misconduct and racial discrimination.

And yet the decision was in keeping with the administration’s bid to find new ways to use the powers of the federal government to target Mr. Trump’s political opponents.

....The matter was then given to Harmeet Dhillon, the controversial Trump loyalist who runs the Civil Rights Division, which wouldn’t appear to have any relevant jurisdiction over a case like this.....

Indeed, it’s worth noting for context that Kash Patel, prior to the podcast personality becoming the FBI director, included Hutchinson on his notorious “government gangsters” enemies list.

Based on the publicly available information, there’s no reason to believe Hutchinson, who delivered stunning Jan. 6 testimony nearly four years ago, did anything wrong. But the president himself recently used his social media platform to talk about Hutchinson; he clearly controls the DOJ; and the Republican administration remains determined to punish Trump’s perceived political foes, which is apparently fine with the acting attorney general. Watch this space.

But the grand jury that believes a prosecutor has engaged in serious misconduct can request that the supervising judge intercede. While grand juries operate under the general direction of the prosecutor, they are technically an independent body under the judicial branch's authority, and they can demand action against prosecutorial misconduct.

Its because Donald Trump demanded that they start an investigation and charge everyone with "Conspiracy to Violate The Civil Rights of Donald J. Trump". They started it in Florida and are using the same nonsensical theory to claim jurisdiction over any and every citizen in the United States, State election officials, canvassers, vote counters etc... Its how they think they can get around SOL's and charge people like Comey, Brennan, Clapper and Obama for things from 2016.

This is why Bondi is out. He wants them to investigate Liz Cheaney, Anthony Faucci, General Miley, Hunter Biden and Joe Biden's brother and "declare" that Biden's pardons aren't valid. He was already told no on this and he isn't taking that for an answer.

If he doesn't die soon - I promise you - By The 4th of July, there will be reports of subpoenas and whatnot, maybe even a grand jury convened, to consider charges on every single person who's name has been mentioned. It will include two former Presidents. Again, he has DEMANDED this. He doesn't care what the courts will do - which is throw it all out. He doesn't care.
