Someone is leaking to the press in an effort to untie Vance and Rubio from trump's disaster. My vote is Vance. He sees his chances of being the next president slipping with trump's disaster.
Here's a bit of info from the Times article
The Times article is long, in part because it is trying to explain a very important and complicated decision. But its also long because it takes a lot of words to list all the misgivings about the war that Trumps advisers supposedly had. Ratcliffe reportedly said in a White House meeting that included the president that Israels hopes of a less anti-Israel regime taking power in Iran are farcical. In that same session, Rubio said that Israels hopes of regime change were bullshit. Vance expressed similar doubts. The article depicts Wiles as worrying that the war could cause a big hike in gas prices, hurting Trump and Republicans in the midterm elections. Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, reportedly said in a meeting of Trump and senior aides that attacking Iran would violate the presidents campaign trail rhetoric about keeping the United States out of new wars abroad.

Another article trying to separate Vance.
Trump Left JD Vance Out of Key Iran Meetingbut Invited Jared Kushner
The vice president of the United States was not present when Donald Trump decided to go to war.
As President Donald Trump drags the U.S. deeper into a war with Iran that has caused horrific civilian casualties and decimated the global oil market, its worth looking back at how the country got here.
New reporting from The New York Times on Tuesday provided key insight into what convinced Trump to go to war.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally attended a meeting at the White House on February 11, the Times reported, along with most top members of Trumps Cabinet. The head of Israels foreign intelligence agency, David Barnea, attended virtually.
Also present was the presidents son-in-law Jared Kushner, the slimy businessman who has been a key negotiator in the Middle East since Trumps reelection, despite not holding an official staff position in the White House.
