This morning, I asked President Trump if he's okay with the Iranians charging a toll for all ships that go through the Strait of Hormuz, he told me there may be a Joint US-Iran venture to charge
tolls: "We're thinking of doing it as a joint venture. It's a way of securing it also
securing it from lots of other people."
Hey adding $2 million per ship in costs just might help jack up inflation by making oil, LNG,
fertilizer, and helium (computer parts) cost more.

(32,421 posts)but wouldn't such a deal be devastating for Krasnov? Partners with Iran after bombing the shit out of them? 25th Amendment stuff.
Iran can use the protection money to rebuild its military. It would be way more money than when Obama unfroze Iran's own money.

(735 posts)Wasnt a declaration like this made when the US Navy fought the Barbary pirates in the early days of American history, who were charging ships fees for safe passage through the North African coastline? I think that the U.S. Marine anthem makes mention of this conflict.

(8,882 posts)Iran knows Trump is a senile old man howling at the moon...he doesn't get to bomb Iran, threaten genocide, and then demand a piece of the action...
and there's this:. the Strait of Hormuz is classified an international strait with all vessels allowed passage...with Iran seizing the waterway, Iran says they alone are the authority as to which ships will/will not be allowed passage...
