https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/ontario-warehouse-fire-video/3873376/

Video shows someone intentionally setting fires at Ontario warehouse
Chamel Abdul Karim, 29, of Highland, was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the fire.

The employee suspected of starting an arson fire at a paper products warehouse in Ontario remains behind bars as new video on social media appears to show someone intentionally starting multiple fires at the site.

A video that’s circulated online shows several fires being purposely started at the Kimberly-Clark Corporation warehouse as the person filming and starting the fire discusses their salary.

The total loss is staggering: officials estimate the value of the destroyed facility and its contents at approximately $156 million. The warehouse served as a critical logistical hub for the distribution of essential paper goods across the Western United States. Supply chain analysts warn that the total destruction of this inventory could lead to regional shortages and price fluctuations for diapers and tissues in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

The facility, a massive 1.2 million-square-foot warehouse operated by a third-party logistics partner for the global hygiene giant Kimberly-Clark, quickly became the site of one of the most significant industrial fires in San Bernardino County’s history. Within minutes of arriving, the Ontario Fire Department upgraded the incident to a six-alarm fire, a designation reserved for only the most severe emergencies requiring massive regional resources.

The structure was packed floor-to-ceiling with highly flammable paper products—brands synonymous with household hygiene such as Huggies, Kleenex, and Scott. These products acted as high-octane fuel for the blaze, allowing the fire to spread through the nearly 30-acre facility at an uncontrollable rate. By 1:00 a.m., the heat was so intense that it compromised the building’s structural integrity, leading to a catastrophic roof collapse and forcing firefighters into a defensive “surround and drown” strategy to protect neighboring structures.

The rich have become too rich (obscenely so) and the poor have become too poor, and too numerous. Enough people in that poor pool and sure enough, you’ll get a good number performing irrational acts.

Thing is, the rich are getting richer, faster than ever, and they’re pulling the rug out from under the poor folks to get as much as they possibly can. I don’t remember seeing it quite this voracious, without any care for the optics before.

So take it for what it is I suppose. Not terrible for many parts of the country, but probably not getting you far in California. I don’t know anything about cost of living in that specific area.

Based on data as of early 2026, warehouse workers at the Kimberly-Clark distribution center in Ontario, California, generally earn hourly wages ranging from $19 to $28 per hour.
Glassdoor

Key Wage and Position Details
Warehouse Operator (Ontario, CA): The average hourly pay for operators in the Ontario facility is approximately $22.12.
Warehouse Associate (US): Average hourly pay for associates is reported around $15.11 to $22 depending on the reporting source, with some experiencing higher ranges.
Forklift Operator: Reported rates for forklift operators average around $15.31 to $18.23 per hour.
Material Handler: Reported hourly rates for this position are around $12.98 to $17.
Overall Warehouse Roles: In the Ontario area, the average base salary for general warehouse workers is approximately $19.74 per hour, with opportunities for overtime.
Indeed

Additional Compensation
Bonuses & Profit Sharing: Some employees receive annual bonuses ($4K–$7K) and profit sharing ($4K–$8K).

internal fire fighters just to go into the facility to bid some

... after I was "asked" to take time off from college because I was crazy. Literally.

From there I graduated to moving furniture which paid better. The first time I made $100 in a day was moving furniture. Some of the guys I worked with were crazier than I was. Some had never even considered college.

That's $28.55 an hour today. My rent was $210, which is $830 today.

Gasoline was free. (Not really, but it was nothing I worried about.)

It wasn't union work, and I had no assurances of continuing employment, but my employers were certainly fearful the unions would come to town and figured if they treated us well enough we'd reject unionization.

Things have changed for the worse. I blame Reagan for that and a lot of other bad things.

While I do not condone arson, Americans are furious about the costs of healthcare, childcare, forever student loans and getting nickel and dimed to death while people like Michael Hsu, Kimberly Clark's CEO, 'earned' $15.32 million last year, and the basic worker in a warehouse earns less than a living wage. Whole swaths of our labor force earn barely enough to live while these Wall Street financiers, corporate greedheads and billionaire parasites live so high on the hog they think they are above the law.

We feel the immoral nature of these elites, their raw and brutal greed, every time we go to work.

It would be so easy for our species to organize ourselves so everyone's work has meaning and everyone has enough. So easy. But no, we must have greed. We are ruled by few greedy and evil men, men who have risen to the top of the heap in a toxic, brutal corporate culture that encourages and rewards sociopathy.

Instead, billions around the world are wage slaves. 3.5 billion live in poverty, and of those 900 million live in extreme poverty. Every minute on this sacred earth, seventeen human beings DIE of hunger and related causes. Seventeen a minute.

It is time we start standing up forcefully against this shit and get rid of the billionaires, change the rules of corporate governance so workers, consumers and the earth are held equal to shareholder profits. Because right now, shareholder profits are king.

Why does it have to be this way?

Saturday April 11 - we are called upon to participate with the Pope in a prayer vigil for peace.
Friday May 1 - we are called upon to participate in a GENERAL STRIKE. No buying, no work, no school.
