The shift from oil isn't just about being 'green' anymore. It's a massive power move for national security.

The global push to move away from oil and gas has long been framed as a response to the effects of climate change and the need to take care of the planet. But a widening group of strategists, analysts, and industry participants argue that the transition is being reshaped by a different, more immediate driver: energy security.

The disruption to global energy markets tied to the war in Iran and escalating attacks on infrastructure in the Middle East has sharpened concerns about the vulnerability of fossil fuel supply chains, prompting renewed debate about how countries can reduce reliance on imported hydrocarbons.

"One of the predictions you can make out of what's happening is that it's going to turbocharge the energy transition," Jeff Currie, chief strategy officer of energy pathways at Carlyle, said at CERAWeek by S&P Global, a major energy industry conference, last week.

"The energy transition never had anything to do with climate change ... Security was always paramount."

7. Trump Administration Announces $1B Deal to Stop Offshore Wind, Threatening Affordable Power at Critical Moment

(WASHINGTON – March 23, 2026) Today, Secretary of Interior Doug Burgum announced that the Trump administration will pay an energy developer almost $1 billion in taxpayer funds to cancel the federal leases for two offshore wind projects along the East Coast. This news comes just weeks after a series of court rulings striking down the Trump administration’s unlawful efforts to block such projects from being developed.

“This deal is an outrageous misuse of taxpayer dollars to prevent Americans from having clean, affordable power exactly when they need it most,” said Ted Kelly, Director and Lead Counsel, U.S. Clean Energy at Environmental Defense Fund.

“As fossil fuel prices swing wildly from global shocks and extreme weather, the answer is obvious: We should be building more homegrown clean energy with stable costs. East Coast states are building offshore wind because it boosts affordable electricity supply on the grid, especially during cold snaps, when natural gas prices are sky-high. Revolution Wind, one of the offshore projects that was just completed, will lower New England families’ electricity bills by roughly half a billion dollars per year.

“By obstructing clean energy projects, while mandating the use of expensive, barely-working coal plants and giving out ‘concierge, white glove service’ to fossil fuel projects, this administration continues to create a self-inflicted rate hike.”

Jimmy Carter tried to get us on the right track. Reagan who had ties to ExxonMobil and Bush sr undid and put us years behind. The contrived 1st gulf war was over the under cutting price of oil. The Bay of Pigs was Bush sr. over his Zapata oil rigs. The solar panels removed and the electric car scrapped.
