Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said Sunday that he is not ruling out the prospect of running for president in 2028, but that he is focused on running for re-election to the Senate this year.
I hope New Jersey will support me for another six years, Booker told NBC News Meet the Press.
Booker has served in the Senate since 2013 and has already run for president once, in the 2020 election cycle. That year, he dropped out of the Democratic primary in early January, citing a lack of funds to continue his campaign. Then-former Vice President Joe Biden went on to win the Democratic nomination and the presidency that year.
But Booker has fueled rumors in recent years that he could run again. The senator has raised $10 million for his campaign account and an affiliated joint fundraising committee, with a major bump after he delivered a record-breaking speech for 25 hours and 5 minutes on the Senate floor.

(3,543 posts)Barack Obama won Indiana, Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, etc.
I'll go for the Democrat with electricity, regardless of race, orientation, gender, or religion.
I realize that Cory Booker is not the talent that Barack Obama represents, but I'm not willing to cede our party to white males.
We might not need one to win. Let's get the best candidate.

(196,461 posts)Dick&W just collapsed completely. Everyone knew whomever won the Dem nomination was going to win POTUS and Obama just beat Hillary by a little. He got his shoulders in front of her and they kept the same pace to the end of the primaries. The Kennedy family endorsement cemented it.
Dick&W were exposed as having lied us into a war and managed it horribly, completely failed after Katrina, and then in September the bottom dropped out of the economy. Even before the Great Recession the writing was on the wall.
Obama did have a truly incredible campaign and was a fantastic candidate which was required to get HIM elected.
