At the moment, there's one uplifting thought that keeps me going, and improves like a fine wine . . .

In less than three months, Donald Trump will be 80 years old. 80. That's three-score and ten plus ten.

And while there are gifted exceptions maintaining their talents, passions and contributions to the world at that age and beyond (Hans Bethe, Grandma Moses, Vladimir Horowitz, Pierre Boulez), they're the exceptions to the iron rule of mortality and faltering flesh.

Meanwhile, the nearly-80-year-old Donald Trump, with the ingratiating charm of a farting hippo, the personal magnetism of a honey badger and cankles as wide as a rich man's grave, stumbles onward towards the kickoff of the first and biggest global block party that ever has been, or ever will be.

And as he hauls his rubbery, walrus-like bulk through the remaining months of his life, whining his way through the remains of the country he's done so much to wreck, in some dimly-lit subbasement of his field mouse-level consciousness, he knows three things:

(A) He's grotesque, stupid, a rapist and a liar who smells bad and shits his pants on a daily basis
(B) Nobody - nobody - likes him and he's never, ever ever going to be one of the cool kids
(C) He will die soon, and nobody's going to show up to put flowers on his golden casket

Just a thought to (I hope!) put a spring in your step and a smile on your face!

A bunch of us, self included, are near that age.

Some are in good health. Others are having a tough time.

The measure of a person is in their wisdom, intent, words and actions, precisely the first four parts of Buddhism's noble 8-fold path.

The heart of (Mahayana/Lotus) Buddhism, when you hear "happiness" is that beyond any exercises or anything else, the understanding that we are all equal but (joyously) different, connected and that we grow as individuals by helping others, IS the source of happiness. Another form of the Golden Rule.

Trump and Musk and so many others are disconnected from humanity and from the environment and the life force of the universe, God, if you wish.

Short of one of those "Paul on the road to Damascus" events (exceedingly rare), "hearts and minds" change little or never. A George Wallace repented for his wickedness, and that, too, is exceedingly rare.

It really is up to us, regardless of how others behave, to stick together, limit the damage they cause, and to bear witness to the the way to a happy life (and only 4 are needed, not the entire 8) to help people attain happiness by NOT falling victim to the manipulation by others who do not understand the Golden Rule, only that gold rules.

Example:

When he goes, another will take his place. Perhaps the "Bitcoin Troika" And we start all over again.
When Trump kicks it, the Crypto Bro Troika will control currency, and hence Wall Street and the world.

--------------------------
Until more people resist the impulse for greed, hate and lies, I quote Ibram X. Kendi in one of my earliest posts here.
"Change Hearts and minds? How many millennia will it take?"

https://democraticunderground.com/100216524810

This is from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

And that day is sure to come. No power lasts forever. There will come a time when Americans will realize that the only thing wrong with Black people is that they think something is wrong with Black people. There will come a time when racist ideas will no longer obstruct us from seeing the complete and utter abnormality of racial disparities. There will come a time when we will love humanity, when we will gain the courage to fight for an equitable society for our beloved humanity, knowing , intelligently, that when we fight for humanity, we are fighting for ourselves. There will come a time. Maybe, just maybe, that time is now.

"Levers of control" always existed. They always will in a representative form of government.
Replace one tyrant with another?
Rather, grab hold of the levers and steer the ship away from the oligarch-fascist-newspeak triangle.

EYES ON THE PRIZE, NO MATTER WHEN HE DIES.

Be growing in wisdom, spending time caring for those who need help, (I kicked in a few bucks for our brother Koz), spreading the good word (people who are not deaf to the world in their cult fantasy will hear it) and be doing good things.

People come and go, even tyrants, but our 4 points of difference will limit their damage, boot them out of office, and help ensure that their hateful ideas are slowly but surely replaced with ones that make for a better life,

Spite is not happiness, and morans gonna learn that the hard way.

Be well, and fetch me a beer so I don't have to get up and trip over something my bifocals can't see.

A few points I beg to differ with:

I find farting hippos to be much more charming than Donnie.🦛

Honey badgers win my vote for personal magnetism over Donnie any day of the week.🦡

I have no arguments with these comments:

Donnie has cankles as wide as a rich man's grave. Donnie stumbles onward towards the kickoff of the first and biggest global block party that ever has been, or ever will be.

The entire world will have great cause to celebrate!!🎊

Which reminds me - at No Kings yesterday, there was a woman with a small sign with a handle. It read
"When 'It' Happens, Party At My House".

Best of all, there was a playlist with about 40 selections, with all genres represented. Come to think of it, "diversity" in a playlist - just the thing he'd loathe.

ASSUMING there are elections in 2026 and 2028 and Trump and most Republicans are turned out in those two elections . . . .

Trump will leave office in January 2029; he will turn 83 in June 2029.

On one hand, I'd celebrate for a month if he died tomorrow or anytime in the next three years.

On the other hand, damn but it would be fun for him to live to be 90 so we all could watch and cheer as he faded into N.O.T.H.I.N.G.:
-- Maybe himself but certainly many of his lieutenants go to jail
-- No one, no, not anyone would invite him to anything -- he could rot in his Mar-A-Lago surroundings
-- Much of the crap he left behind in DC would be ripped down, paved over, forgotten.
-- Slowly things would return to pre-Trump normal, or, to an even better post-Trump glory
-- Maybe Melania would pack it in, take her pre-nuptial $$$$ and go back to Slovenia or some other shithole
-- The rest of the family would fade into nothing, counting their billions
-- Anyone who wished could mock him and he couldn't do a thing about it.
