I am not obligated to forgive regretful trump voters. So there's this video floating the internets

A regretful trump supporter posted a video crying that she is still getting hateful comments despite apologizing. She says she has been making videos to warn other trump supporters, but it still feels that it will never be enough for some people. There are response videos sympathizing with her, warning that we should be welcoming people like her. Others have said they can't forgive her. I fall in the latter camp. Her crying about not being forgiven pretty much ticked me off.
Her biggest problem is people on the internet making comments that hurt her feelings. Meanwhile, people are dead, families are being ripped apart. People are terrified to leave their homes. Countless people have died after USAID was ripped away. Over 300,000 black women lost their jobs due to Doge cuts. The ripple effects of that will be felt for years to come.
So sorry, if I can't empathize with this lady crying about mean comments.
I am glad she's apologized and making videos to warn people. Doesn't mean I have to forgive her. A victim does not have to forgive their abuser, even when the abuser is truly sorry.

I can't confirm the quote source as I haven't seen it myself.

But that film is notorious for two reasons, one being Wayne's yellow face and cringey dialogue, and the other being the supposed exposure of cast and crew to fallout from nuclear tests upwind of the desert film sets.

The tearful regret is wholly remorse over circumstances that personally affect self-preservation.

I hear no evidence from many of these revelations that their moral or ethical convictions that are deeply rooted in racist, xenophobic conviction have been altered.

Nothing that indicates their compass directionally exhibits empathy towards the lives of others; merely their own plight.

Trump voters were moved only by an agenda that cast hate against those who they thought were lesser beings.

Their regret is meaningless in my opinion until they’ve demonstrated they are willing to advocate for the collective good of all; not only who they feel deserving.

because of her vote, those of every person who voted for that motherfucker, or stayed home. We have a fucking war, people are being murdered in our streets by his thugs, they're dying in concentration camps, or because he made health insurance too expensive, or because their rural hospitals are being shut down due to budget cuts. And, don't get me started on the millions who will die because USAID was gutted, and because he gutted environmental regulations? She wants us to forgive her. Nope. Go to hell, lady.

Many of them live in a different reality.

I explained to MAGA family members before the election that Trump almost killed me in his first term.
In 2017, he tried to repeal ACA but failed.
I told them my lymphoma returned in 2019; it was first diagnosed in 1990.
A cardinal rule with my lymphoma, is that each time it returns it is always in a different place and is more resistant to prior therapies.
This time, it was near my spinal column.
I went through four different therapies over 2 year, they all failed.
ACA saved my life because it made the fifth therapy, which worked possible due to its ban on lifetime limits.
There was a strong possibility that I would have experienced paralysis if I did not find a successful treatment.

Many of his followers discounted COVID; they should not have.
Trump is ill equipped to handle another pandemic.
Many act like nothing like it will happen again.

And forgiving does not mean you have to speak to them at all. You have to acknowledge the ways you have reacted to, been affected by, held them in distain, allowed their behavior to affect you negatively, and so on. This will show you the cost you have incurred by your own choices. If that cost is too high for you, you can choose to let it/them go.
I make it sound easy in some ways, and in some ways it is. You do it when you decide to.

to let go of my anger and resentment and blame for my ex before I was ready to see the full cost of holding on to it. It was the price my children were paying that helped me get there. When you “GET” the full cost vs the always small benefit of getting to be (more right, getting sympathy, being virtuous) you see it’s a no brainer. You see when you see. If you are willing.
