CNN "obeying in advance"

There was probably little chance that CNN would be a beacon of good journalism in covering the Iran War, but they are really outdoing themselves. This morning, while nbcnews. com has a huge headline proclaiming Three US Soldiers Dead and Five Wounded that takes up almost half the page, and MSNOW is running a permanent chyron that says 3 US Soldiers Dead, CNN is taking a different tack.

So far I have seen Dana Bash interview Fetterman and Ted Cruz, and on her insufferable "panel" Scott Jennings is allowed to interrupt and smirk to his hearts content. There is no chyron about the three soldiers who died. In fact, at one point towards the end of the hour, a guest said hurriedly before they went to commercial break that three soldiers had died and they hadn't talked about it yet.

CNN has already taken a turn to the right recently that has turned off many viewers. Now they are facing new ownership and I believe they are signaling that they will be good little war cheerleaders.
That portends danger for an already endangered democracy.

Didn’t learn that history in high school (class of 76) but later on ... and not even during the hoopla of the Iran hostage crisis that began in ‘78.

Velshi also ran through the litany of our regime change failures in South America. He is becoming a national treasure ...

I used to have online subscriptions to both NYT & WP. They have fallen so far. The NYT has an editor who described democracy as a partisan issue. And cancel.

trying to evacuate troops from Afghanistan when they were hit with a terrorist bomb.

I won't hold my breath.

As far as CNN "obeying in advance" of the probable Ellison take over, they were headed that way long ago with the free airtime for the swiftboating of Kerry, giving free airtime to the swift pukes ad as a "news story", playing it almost 24/7.

They also were right on top of Howard Dean after the Iowa Primary, trying to present him as unhinged.

It won't take CNN long to go full MAGA. The days of Ted Turner are long gone.

but even supposing that he had, and could not articulate quickly or succinctly, no one doubted his sanity or his judgement. How is Biden's supposed lack of verbal acuity a danger to our country? And why are the actions of trump not dangerous? Tapper will never cover trump with the same venom he used against Biden no matter what facts present themselves. And yes, I do agree that he basically blew his top when we exited Afghanistan. But we hear nothing from him regarding trump's various misadventures.

CNN has been dead to me since they pioneered the concept of two from the right and two from the left screaming at each other. The show was Crossfire, and it debuted barely two years into the existence of CNN. This approach is why so few Americans watch any 24-hour news channel.

The loss is well deserved. As a lapsed journalist, I am appalled by their slide into irrelevance and incompetence, so I find myself monitoring them and pointing out their failures. But I totally understand if you find it more productive to just ignore them.

Fortunately, I've read that a lot of people seem to think he hates being a senator and is likely not to run for reelection. If that's the case, I wish he'd just retire already and give PA Dems a chance to fill that seat with a real Democrat.
