“Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday sent his condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

Putin characterized Khamenei’s killing during U.S. and Israeli strikes as “a cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.”

“The Russian leader said Khamenei would be remembered in Russia for bringing the two countries closer and deepening their strategic partnership.”
