I’ve read several stories, but can’t find the route they will take to DC once they leave Georgia.

The dog is a stray that started following them in India and has now traveled with them to the US. He's got his own Facebook page!!!!

I'd heard snippets about it but hadn't really paid attention until today and it was just all over my social media. So I paid some attention and I have simply been moved by it all.

Kindness, generosity, humanity, grace - all in parallel to what we've witnessed this past year. It's nice to be reminded that those qualities, and other positive ones, still exist.

cry each day because it's so moving. People are pouring out to meet them as they walk through towns.

It's just particularly moving to me. The crowds, the monks, the city officials, the law enforcement (such a difference from the ICE assholes), and of course, Aloka and their particularly good care of him!!!

I think we all are just hungering for some good. Go figure that, right?

At around 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, the monks were walking along the side of U.S. Highway 90 near Dayton, Texas, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northeast of Houston, when their escort vehicle, which had its hazard lights on, was hit by a truck, said Dayton Interim Police Chief Shane Burleigh.



One of the monks has “substantial leg injuries” and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Houston, Burleigh said. The other monk with less serious injuries was taken by ambulance to another hospital in suburban Houston.


In a video posted on Walk for Peace’s Facebook page, an unidentified spokeswoman for the group said the most seriously injured monk was expected to have a series of surgeries to heal a broken bone, but his prognosis for recovery was good. The group said the monk’s surgery on Thursday went well.

It was such a tragedy amidst all of this good.

Such a tragedy out of something that has such good intent. Almost unbelievable.

I read that he started following them on a walk in India, and that now he travels with them. They have an RV that goes along with them and when the dog is tired or it's too hot or cold, he rides in the vehicle. He hates it! He howls and wants to get back with the monks.

So sweet!
