'How We Did It': Dems Release Strategy Memo on Election Night Dominance

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee released a memo Monday outlining key strategies and lessons learned from the 2025 general election that saw Democrats victorious at state-level races all over the country. After 39 special election wins since November 2024, Democrats came through with nothing short of a blue wave; winning in California and New York, but also in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Mississippi.

"The DLCC’s recipe for success has always been grounded in building incremental power and supporting caucuses through early investments and infrastructure," DLCC President Heather Williams wrote.

"Laying the groundwork early sets campaigns up for success and expands the map of viable, winnable races across the country. Early investments allow programs to build candidates’ name ID from the onset, make reservations on TV and digital early at a better price, and make more informed decisions around resource allocation as the cycle goes on."
