Rank speculation: Trump burns/deletes the Epstein files

Disclaimer: The reason I'm floating this "rank speculation" is because Michael Wolff has said on the Daily Beast podcast recently that Trump has this obsession about why Nixon didn't burn the tapes. Source: Why Trump Is Obsessed by Burning Evidence: Wolff | Inside Trump's Head

Of course, if Trump's minions did this, it would be a cut and dried case of obstruction of justice and maybe other federal charges. I'm sure Pam Bondi et al would all say it was "an accident", how horrible, yada yada, and we at DU would immediately think it was done deliberately to cover up.

Could Trump and his horrible minions actually get away with this ? Meaning, no impeachment and conviction, no criminal charges, no indictments, etc ? The Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, to me, was a slam dunk case and he got away with that. He tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6th and he got away with that.

Since this is DU, I always feel the need to be crystal clear: I am not advocating this, and I am 100% sure Trump has already thought of this, so he's getting no new ideas from me My ideal scenario is, the files are released, Trump looks horrible and guilty, and resigns voluntarily. One can dream.

Have a nice Thanksgiving, if you celebrate.

Steve
