He must have forgotten that Republicans hold the majority in the Senate and all of them voted for the bill as well.

Unanimous Consent is what the senate normally uses to clear things the House sends them, that they have to do something with, but otherwise don't care about (renaming a post office in Cousin Fuck, Nebraska as an example).

In THIS case, the senate looked around the room and said:
'Wait a sec...is there anybody in the room that actually wants to spend the next 6 months arguing over who's gonna DRINK this poison?
No?
NOBODY?
LAST CALL...OkDoneNextTHANK YOU!

This shit is so toxic that they didn't even want the bill in the chamber, lest some window-licker of an intern have the chance to do or say something so stupid that not only could it not be walked back, but ruins a career in the process.

Fuck yeah HouseElf Mikey is shook, HE thought he was gonna get the Senate to drink this poison to save his own ass; he passed the chalice and Thune dumped it out on the floor LIKE A SMART PERSON lol.

I guess they're on the hook for not voting yes, but that's a hell of a lot smaller a hook than openly voting NO...

they found the softest place to land between a rock and a hard place. not much courage abounding. not much conviction, or attention to doing the right thing.

The only genuine thing about them is their effort to gain Christo-fascist authoritarian power.

Which renders false their ostensible patriotism and reverence for the Constitution established by America's founding fathers.

Watch Lawrence O’Donnell last night. He discussed the process. The Senate wanted nothing to do with this. Wanted to hide the fact that all but 2 voted against releasing the files in September.
