Silicon Valley's Extortion Letter to Democrats (Gil Duran, The Nerd Reich)

In an unusual op-ed in the Washington Post, a former Palantir official named Wendy R. Anderson warns Democrats: bow down to Silicon Valley oligarchs or lose the future:

“Polling shows Democrats are likely to view major tech firms as too powerful and needing stricter oversight,” she writes.

To remedy this Silicon Valley’s hurt feelings, Anderson says Democrats must launch a $50 billion “emergency innovation fund” to shove even more money into Silicon Valley’s overstuffed craw and pretty much give tech moguls everything they want, from mergers to deregulation.

Oh, and she also calls for Democrats to “Designate 15 federal innovation zones with radically shortened permitting, procurement and review timelines.”

Duran is also concerned about some Democrats being too friendly with Silicon Valley, and I share that concern. Silicon Valley already has Britain's Labour Party being much too deferential to what the AI bros want.

But they are hedging their bets with this threat disguised as an “invitation”.

Oh, and she also calls for Democrats to “Designate 15 federal innovation zones with radically shortened permitting, procurement and review timelines.”

This is the Neoliberal/Third Way Abundance Agenda Trojan Horse in a nutshell: “ Let us build and do what we want, how we want, where we want, or else”.

So, ignore building codes, labor laws, environmental impact studies, power grid demands, and give us tax incentives, and we just might make some donations to Dem candidates, or at least won’t donate to their opponents.

Fuck these guys, and primary every Dem that caves to their threats.

The country is so behind now. We have lost what ledge we had. Because the billionaires wanted to carve up the country into individual kingdoms.
