This vote is one small step of a long process and I'm pessimistic about it

People seem to think there will be some imminent release of all sorts of damning information. Not going to happen.

First, the Senate will probably add amendments, requiring the bill to go back to the House. Even if they don't, they'll find some way to delay it, or avoid reaching 60 votes. Then Trump may or may not veto it, if so, that adds additional delays, regardless of the vote count (yeah, today he says he won't, but since when has that mattered). If/when it finally passes, they'll claim ongoing investigations will prevent it's release and/or will release a sanitized version, requiring more hearings, more investigations and more cover-up claims. If/when it finally gets to the point where it looks like he's being force, he'll take it to court for more delays. Then, in the end, even if SCOTUS rules against him, they will likely view it as any other law ... simply ignore it and do what they want. Since the DOJ won't enforce the law, he'll once again skate.

Then there will be the "Oh, we have to protect the victims" angle. Anything to delay.

The only way it's really to be resolved is if Congress gets sick of him (and enough of it leaks) to impeach him and convict him .... which is highly unlikely. Or the Orrex way.

Lots of performative GP dancing right now, but will it accomplish much? I say doubtful, at least in the short term (ie less than 6 months).

I really hope to be proven wrong here.

Fortunately, stalling now is probaby as bad as anything in Epstein Files. Hide or release, both are bad options. Silent Type 4 hrs ago #5
There will be independent Epstein information coming. Not just what's in the Area 51 DOJ vault. (repost, please read) usonian 3 hrs ago #6

... but his efforts to suppress the files will continue to split MAGA world. His efforts to suppress are a clear indication that there is something to hide.

Their poll and number counters probably told them they needed to get on the right side of this

Trump couldn't care less about the voters, but Congress does, so they are dancing around to make themselves less vulnerable. They know, as well as we do, there will be nothing coming of this for a long time, in their minds hopefully not until after November 2026.
