which, I'm sad to say, has no specific treatment beyond the Parkinson's drugs he was already on and is quite frequenly a fatal complication.

All my thanks and best wishes to you, Jesse. May your days be pain-free.

He was the first Black person to run for president.

My mother was so excited to say she voted for him.

Shirley Chisholm ran for president first, launching her campaign in 1972. Jesse Jackson ran for president later, first in 1984.

Then I essentially raced his entourage to my home city of Bethlehem, where Rev. Jackson was staying. When he arrived at the Hotel Bethlehem
I shook his hand!

I also voted for him in the Primary.

🙏🥺

Civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson remains hospitalized and is now receiving a form of life support to stabilize his blood pressure, a source close to Jackson’s family told CNN on Sunday.

Jackson, 84, a protégé of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., has been under observation for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), the Rainbow PUSH Coalition said Wednesday evening.

Further details about his condition have not been released.

jackson is an incredible figure of mid 20th century politics, from civil rights through his presidential campaign and the rainbow coalition.

i was supporting gary hart in 1984, yet another primary for direction of a "parry in disarray." vp mondale got the nomination and jackson finished 3rd in the primaries. all their great moments were not enough to derail reagan's reelection.

I'm sure the azzwhole in chief will have something nice to say.

What a legendary life he's led. Rev. Al just asked for viewers to pray for his old friend. I remember in the 80's he came to protest at a K-Mart across the street from my apartment complex because they were refusing to unionize. Seems quaint now. He was always on the side of the downtrodden and I admire him greatly!

I can't speak to its reliability so take it with a spoonful of salt, especially the last sentence.

Like the rest of us, he's getting up there, so anything that goes wrong is a bad thing. All the young lions of our youth are starting to go away and the world will be far poorer for it.

Met him ages ago, during the big May Day 1971 anti-war protest in Washington DC. He came to speak at St. Stephen's Church, where many students from NJ were staying. I remember thinking, "What a fireball of energy. This man will go far, and be famous."

And political icon. Always felt that him and Rev Sharpton have, as best they could, tried to live up to the legacy of Dr. King.

I only wish for the best possible outcome for him and his family. ✊🏿

tears streaming down his face, the night Obama won the presidency.

Sitting in our little living room watching the telly..so moved to see Jesse at that moment. Then husband comes home from vote counting at our little town hall. "How's he doing?".
"He won!", says me, tears streaming down my face.
Jesse you are a giant.
Keep hope alive.
