(13,527 posts)and he's not my leader, but I still pay attention to what he says. He's a good guy, as was Francis, and Catholics are close to Orthodox, except for a few words. 1054 and all that.

(57,855 posts)We all know that, but the head of an enormously powerful institution that has previously been coy and silent on this issue is saying it and not making any bones about it. He's pointing out their hypocrisy in an undeniable way. And yes, you'll say they won't care. But some will.
And he's putting some leg behind it. He is kneecapping Opus Dei, which is the actual ruling body for a lot of people behind things like the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation.

(34,011 posts)"The poorest are not only objects of our compassion,
but teachers of the Gospel. It is not a question of
"bringing" God to them, but of encountering Him
among them. Serving the poor is not a gesture to
be made "from above," but an encounter between
equals, where Christ is revealed and adored."
Thank you, Pope Leo.

(13,527 posts)Yeshua is the Aramaic for of Jesus. Aramaic is the language Jesus would have spoken in his family and with his disciples. "Yeshu" is more than likely what his mother would have hollered at him when calling him for supper when he was a kid playing in the streets. It's more of a pet name or nickname.
