(30,937 posts)when I was a teenager I used to taunt my fussy English grandma with pictures of me and my "boyfriends" - they were usually outrageous looking guys I stopped on the street - like, a guy with a foot-high bright pink mohawk or a really old guy

And half the family doesnt speak to the other half. Its nothing political. Grandma died, left her house to the three kids, my aunt took care of her for her last four years, she wanted to keep living in the house, the other two siblings wanted the cash and forced a sale. A story as old as time

(21,224 posts)He used primogeniture. All or nothing with respect to acreage, starting with the eldest. 3 sons and a baby sister. My uncle had had enough of farming growing up and passed. My dad said the same. They'd both come back from WWII and started careers outside farming and had no intention of going back. The third sibling liked farming and he took over completely after granddad finally retired for good. No fuse, no muss.
