https://www.rawstory.com/jeffrey-epstein-2674299046/The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee predicted Saturday that next weeks vote on releasing files on Jeffrey Epstein would pass with substantial numbers, and described President Donald Trumps various efforts to block the vote as the president completely panicked.
[Trump] is completely panicked, said Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, which carries subpoena power and has been actively investigating Epstein and potential co-conspirators, speaking on MSNBC Saturday.
He is desperate. He knows the American public is all now lining up to fight to ensure that the release of the files actually happens, and he's doing everything that he can to intimidate, to politicize and weaponize the government to stop the files from being released.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was forced to schedule a vote next week on a bill that would compel the Justice Department to release all of its files on Epstein after a discharge petition secured enough signatures in the House to move forward.

(10,674 posts)So Mikey will come out before the press Tuesday and say the vote has to be postponed due to the open investigation of Bill Clinton et als. Then in December he will delay it again, and again, and again, because, after all, the investigation still continues and he can't let the House vote to do something that would violate DOJ rules.

(3,435 posts)Would that essentially tie up the files, making a 2/3 majority moot? That seems to be the plan, imo

I believe the docs that the DOJ/FBI have may be jammed by an investigation but not anything that the Epstein estate may release.
IANAL so would welcome any insight from those more knowledgeable about the legal details.

(10,674 posts)If an "open investigation" ties up the files, how could they have released some of the files earlier this year, in February, before DOJ closed the case in July. Remember the white binders of Epstein Files?

So he's trying to change the narrative by threatening Venezuela.
