It's Weird how they think anyone on the left gives a flying you-know-what about Larry Summers

They're like, "The emails also show close ties with major Democratic figures like former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers."

Larry Summers is an asshole. He was the absolute worst of Clintonism and plenty of people on the left were pissed when Obama brought him on board as well. I've thought this guy was a neoliberal shitbag for 30 years. And that's not "attacking a Democratic figure." This fool is not a Democrat, but a plutocrat.

I mean seriously. The worst corporate, neoliberal idea man of the last 30 years, and managed to throw in some "Harvard should still be racist" for good measure. If we have to throw Larry Summers under the bus, believe me, many of us did that 30 years ago!

here on DU. I vaguely remember quite a bit of outrage back in the Obama years when Summers was appointed Director of the National Economic Council.

When you're right, you're right!

A world class shit bag, for some reason Rahm Emanuel always comes to mind when I hear Summers' name.

should have picked someone with a solid academic record instead of another spokesmodel for the 1% from Goldman Sachs.

Once Summers got tapped for the job, we just sort of tuned out, we knew nothing good would come except keeping the game rigged against us.

Forcing themselves on innocent young people. The horror of seeing those old bags of failing body parts taking advantage of the situation is revolting.

I can't imagine the permanent trauma that those horrible people visited on the vulnerable.

Anybody who had sex or favors arranged by Epstein, Trump and/or Maxwell, or in any way aided that Trump/Epstein.Maxwell extortion right, should be held to account the the maximum extend of the law. It that includes some Democrats, great. We don't need them in our Party.

And then we should turn the question on the Republicans or the reporters who are covering for them. "Why does it matter to you what the party affiliation might have been? Are you saying that these things are OK for Republicans? Join us in demanding that EVERYONE involved be held to account."

I don’t think anyone would shed a tear if the Epstein files destroyed him.

His reputation was already shot after his tenure at Harvard and that infamous memo or those statements about m female intelligence or whatever. I think his boneheaded economic policies were partly responsible for democrats losing so many seats in 2010. Had a lot of the benefits of the stimulus bill been realized earlier, I think democrats would have done much better.

TLDR: he’s basically a piece of shit. Good riddance.

It was in 96 when Clinton was in office and Summers was Treasury Secretary. Obama ran for US Senate in 2004 and then President in 2008. I think Summers was then President of the World Bank when Obama was President. Maybe they're connected through Chicago financial people, I don't know for certain. Obama had to rescue the US economy after the housing investment market crash. Probably better that he was president when that happened than McCain. God only knows how Republicans would have tried to exploit that.

…or sex with children needs to be exposed and prosecuted. Unfortunately, were any charges come from this investigation, defense’s first move would to dismiss for selective prosecution. If for some reason that doesn’t (hard to imagine) discovery would be a bitch. Don’t expect any charges. This is just diversion, though not far from obstruction of justice.
