CY-GOV: Today, the curtain goes up on Ned Lamont's bid for a third term
Gov. Ned Lamont formally opened his campaign for a third term Friday with a video defining himself as an unifying governor who revived a failing Connecticut, stabilized its finances, and is attacking the affordability issues of health care, housing and energy.
Weve come a long a way, but the jobs not done, Lamont says at the close of a fast-paced, two-minute video posted on social media, the chosen venue for launching and framing political campaigns in contemporary America.
Lamont will reinforce the message in events planned Friday in each of Connecticuts five congressional districts, all in the service of defining himself as central to continuing the comeback of a state brought to life on his watch.
When I became governor, I found a state that was in a world of hurt, lurching from deficit to deficit, he says in the video. We were shortchanging education. Our state employees hadnt got an increase. Cool kids moved to New York, GE moving to Boston. I said, Were turning around the moving vans.'
