Based on past 10 days, it may not be over for Trump, but are his chances of being dictator greatly diminished?

1. Not greatly. The whole project of the RWers is to consolidate power in a fashion that

makes the possession of that power immune to public opinion, and they have made a lot of progress on that over the last 2-3 decades. Because The Dotard is the avatar of the RW, checking him in any way is contrariwise to their larger goal.

But it may chip away at the party’s support come next year.

We’ll get a better idea if Republicans in battleground districts or competitive senate races start distancing themselves from him. If that happens we’ll know his true popularity. What will be fun is how pissed he’ll get that he’s not invited. Hopefully he’ll be completely toxic by then and his stench will drag down republicans with him.

... and so his reign of terror will end.

Both Repubs and Dems are talking about the post-Trump era.

The Republican Senate, House and Supreme Court will protect him and shield him in every attempt at consolidating absolute power that he can get away with.

Just last night, a standard German news broadcast hinted at this with a kind of “so what else is new?” kind of tone to the segment.

How ironic. Republican propaganda is at its most shrill when accusing us of being socialists and communists, and yet, their fanatical attempts at one-party rule (theirs, of course) resemble the worst excesses of socialist regimes of the last 100 years. And still, even today, they hold up a rabid pit bull to a mirror and claim to see a lamb in the reflection. It’s terrifying to contemplate how such an overwhelming number of Republicans continue to see the lamb, even as they rush to the clinic to get treated for their newly acquired dog bites.

If the House has the votes, every bill that gets passed will contain legislation to release the Epstein files.

Unless there are pictures, recordings or DNA, I don't see this cutting into his core support. And I can't imagine Trump would protect anyone else.

There are photographs which will stick — even in the “minds” of MAGA.

8. He has made so many enemies

Trump has alienated a fuck ton of people and he may be the most hated man in the entire world. And the U.S. for all its institutional failures still has rights that aren’t easily taken away without large opposition.

Trump is also a huge idiot and his fascist regime has not paced its tyrannical actions like a savvy dictator would.

So do I think Trump will successfully reign as a tyrant? No. Do I think he has taken a wrecking ball and shook our nation to the core? Absolutely.

The damage will be lasting unfortunately. Let’s hope something better rises from the ashes.
