Let me be clear about who Larry Summers is. This isnt some conspiracy theorist with a blog. This is the former Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton. Former president of Harvard. Former director of the National Economic Council under Obama. One of the most respected economists in the country. A man with access to the highest levels of government, finance, and academia.
And on July 17, 2018, the day after Trumps disastrous press conference with Putin in Helsinki, Summers sent Epstein an email. Do the Russians have stuff on Trump? he wrote. Today was appalling even by his standards.
Think about what that means. Summers didnt ask a government official. He didnt ask a intelligence analyst. He didnt ask a journalist covering the Russia beat. He asked a convicted sex offender who was already a registered predator when this email was sent.
Epsteins response is almost as interesting as the question. He called Trump totally predictable and said hed explain by phone. He wrote that Trump thinks he has charmed his adversary but has no idea of the symbolism. He has no idea of most things.

..."The correspondence reveals that Epstein had planned to donate $500,000 to Poetry in America a television show and digital initiative spearheaded by Harvard English professor emerita Elisa F. New, who is married to Summers. In 2016, Epstein donated $110,000 to Verse Video Education, the non-profit organization which funds the initiative.

The proposal outlined a $500,000 contribution to support production costs and expand the projects reach. The planned funding would underwrite interviews with prominent figures including Bill Clinton, Richard Dawkins, and Ray Dalio and was intended, New wrote, to give me discretion over its disbursement to Harvard and WGBH.

In dozens of emails, Summers corresponding from his personal account also appears to have written to Epstein with ease about his personal life. At times, he confided in Epstein about his relationship with an unnamed woman, referring to the topic and his requests for advice as the dear Abby issue.

In an October 2017 email to Epstein, Summers appeared to joke to Epstein that women were less intelligent than men and suggested that having hit on women should not damage ones career prospects."... (more)

(39,591 posts)There's another email of Epstein's floating around, and I've just read it today or yesterday, where Epstein offered to give Putin the stuff he needed (kompromat) to pull the rug out from under Chump. Apparently Epstein did exactly that, he told Putin the very worst about Chump and it seems like Pootie must have used it.
Maybe this is the real reason why Epstein died in jail only a year later?

(3,809 posts)says everything you need to know about Summers. Apparently the guy must be bright, but in a Jamie Dimon kind of way that's really of no service to America. I guess I'd take him over any ass-licking member of a trump cabinet. But Summers and his old foe Cornell West deserve each other.

(37,998 posts)Sorry, but I don't put much weight into what someone who suggested - in this century, that women have less intrinsic aptitude than men, and that is why they aren't well-represented in fields which historically discriminate against women.

(34,986 posts)Bingo! It's why he thinks he's scoring points when he brags about sexual assault or invading young women's dressing rooms.
He can't distinguish between right and wrong.
He's not an evil genius - he's a dumb sociopath.
