Besides protecting the Pedophile in Chief?

What are the excuses the Repugs are giving for opposing the release of the Epstein files.

To be clear, I am not talking about the real reasons they are blocking it. we KNOW why, because it is bad for Trump.

But what reasons are they publicly giving to to excuse this loathsome obstruction.

For example, the NY Jets owner and Trump's previous ambassador to the UK Woody Johnson is mentioned in multiple emails. He probably would prefer not to have his association (whatever it may have been) with Epstein discussed in public.
