General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsMy results from the Pulmonary Function Tests are in! They are normal and OK to proceed with surgery.
So I'm a mix of emotions today.
Of course, this result was the most acceptable to me.
And I'm scared too.
Both tests had their difficulties for me. They were hard in places. They truly tested my ability to perform appropriately. I actually didn't think I'd do well enough. So I'm surprised as well as scared.
Next week, I will have a video conference with my surgeon and the details will become clear then.
Thanks to all of you for your support: the stories, the humor, the love . . .

(12,322 posts)One step at a time. I'm sure it is scary. My husband went through cancer surgery and radiation followup six months after we bought our house in Delaware. I was a nervous wreck and he was scared, too. Perfectly normal. The good news is that surgical and cancer approaches have made enormous advances.
Sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

(54,698 posts)It would be more concerning if you weren't nervous about surgery, but it's totally normal to feel that way. Writing down your concerns so you can make sure you ask your surgeons about them might ease your burden a bit.

(18,327 posts)Think positively, eh? In the mean time, there's just a little unpleasantness to be going through.
I understand that soldiers undergoing hot-climate drills in the swamps and bayous of Louisiana have an expression: "Embrace the suck." It's good advice, Peggy dear. Embrace the suck.

(6,587 posts)So glad things are going in the right direction for you. In my case, when they gave me the injection, I struggled to breathe in the first seconds it went in. What a shock.
Best of luck for your upcoming surgery.

(9,157 posts)is - every time you think of a question -no matter how small - about the upcoming surgery, or about something in your body might react to it - write it in a notebook, and take that notebook every time you see or speak with your surgeon (or even your PCP) - ASK thoae questions.
