Chas had it right. Unfortunately, late 19th century and early 20th century assholes turned

evolutionary Darwinism into social Darwinism and eugenics, institutions to keep down and eliminate the poors.

as a geologist and an evolutionary biologist and was employed by my state of residence as a paleontologist for 34 years. Darwin is very dear to me.

for Charles, I sincerely doubt he ever used it. And it seems highly disrespectful to use a nickname he never did.

Let's see, I had an aunt whose name was Margaret, but known to her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Gaggie." So I guess I can call Margaret Thatcher "Gaggie."
