(25 posts)To come up with a debate rebuttal to a "torture is bad" argument on a debate trip with a bunch of other debate team people. This is what amounts to funny / clever from a conservative debate person who thinks the only thing cool to do is win the debate no matter if you are lying, using fallacies, or morally wrong. The more extreme the better. It's one reason we are where we are, no-one ran this type out of their social /debate clubs for being a despicable, and now they are using those skills in "real" life ( and people seem believe every word, unopposed ).

(1,072 posts)Perhaps he should be shown the same considerations on offer to the victims of his sociopathic ideation. On a live feed so we could marvel at his (in-)human dignity.
He's in good company. Raging Sociopathy is the hallmark of this mis-administration.

(14,671 posts)Claim that suffering brings one closer to God. Other people's suffering, of course.
And they take great pleasure with insuring that all those poor sufferers get just enough help to continue suffering, all for a greater understanding of God.
I suspect whatever context one would put Miller's statement in would show the only argument it might apply to that isn't totally appalling is some torture scene in a Mel Gibson action movie where the hero must overcome impossible odds to save the day.
