Since Bad Bunny was announced for the Super Bowl hal time show the MAGAts have been in full meltdown, even tagging ICE in posts about him. They flunked fourth grade social studies and do not understand that Puerto Ricans are citizens too.
It's glorious to watch the stupidity.

He's a great choice to draw in Spanish speaking fans, especially with the emphasis on South American games.
Bad Bunny is currently the 12th most streamed artist on Spotify and he's hosting SNL.

(1,675 posts)Taylor Swift ~110.7 billion streams
Drake ~109 billion streams
Bad Bunny ~100 billion streams
The Weeknd ~85 billion streams
Justin Bieber ~68 billion streams
Ed Sheeran ~63 billion streams
Ariana Grande ~61 billion streams
Eminem ~58 billion streams
BTS ~55 billion streams (widely cited; some variation sources)
Post Malone ~54 billion streams (widely cited; some variation sources)
And remember Taylor has been a huge star since before Spotify was even a thing. Drake's first album was 2010. The Weeknd's was 2012.
Bad Bunny's first album was late 2018.
If you average for 'years active' Bad Bunny is the #1 artist on Spotify by a considerable margin.

(7,562 posts)Album Success: His album Un Verano Sin Ti was the most-streamed global album on Spotify in 2022 and 2023.
As of January 2025, the musician has had 113 songs enter the Billboard Hot 100, including the number-one hit "I Like It" (with Cardi B and J Balvin), and the top-five singles "Mia" (featuring Drake) and "Dakiti" (featuring Jhay Cortez).
He has released 4 albums in the past 5 years with all 4 reaching #1 on the US Billboard 200. El Último Tour Del Mundo in 2021 became the first all-Spanish-language album to reach number one on the US Billboard 200. His most recent album Debí Tirar Más Fotos (released in January) reached #1 on Apple Music in over 60 different countries.

(23,263 posts)They finally have the America of their dreams. They control the entire government. Drumpfs enemies are being charged with crimes. Immigrants are being tortured and shipped off to whatever country they find the most hilarious.
Minorities and women are being purged from the government.
And they are STILL not happy.

MAGAts should try reading books instead of banning them.

(3,424 posts)this should totally make their heads explode. I would love to see that, literally. It would be like the purge, only we'd have to deal with the rotting corpses. Hmmmm.
But seriously, it's like the NFL is trolling those people. I could foresee an attempt to scuttle the booking which could work on the one hand given the NFL's corporate weak backbone, but on the other hand would make magaville look so stupid and petty that it would backfire on them.

(29,958 posts)But I honestly think it's really about reaching out to the Central and South American audiences they're attempting to build. It's not different than a recent article about how London wants to make major offers for more games and even a Super Bowl.
Bad Bunny is a smart move to appeal to international audiences.

I'm a contractor for a cable provider and recall having to get up early a few times a few years ago to route feeds and data for early morning NFL games from London. I'm also congenitally NOT a morning person.
