(11,954 posts)Introducing Lindsey Fucking Halligan (to use her full name).
And an insane indictment against Letitia James is undoubtedly next on the crazy lady's agenda.
The level of idiocy of indicting Comey fior "making a false statement and obstruction of a congressional proceeding" cannot be expressed in our existing vocabulary (I think we need a bunch of new adjectives to capture the extent of the insanity of the 47 regime and its lunatic minions).
Mr. Comey answered a simple question from Ted Cruz in 2020 -- one that back then they thought would be a big "gotcha." That didn't pan out, but apparently reality can't be allowed to get in the way of the 47 regime vengeance show.
Back in 2020, they were obsessed with discrediting Comey. The ONLY "smoking gun" they could come up with then was the notion that Comey "authorized" McCabe's leak of the status of the investigation into the Clinton Foundation in 2017.
In response to Sen. Cruz, Mr. Comey stated simply, and by all subsequent investigation, truthfully, that he had never authorized a leak of information.
AI summary:
Inspector general's conclusion: A later investigation by the DOJ inspector general found that while McCabe had shared information, FBI rules allowed the deputy director to speak with the media without authorization. The report also concluded that former FBI Director James Comey had not authorized the leak.
On Edit: Correction. The charges apparently aren't related to McCabe.
Yes, they relate to 2020, statements, where Comey said he stood by his 2017 testimony on McCabe's leak. Now, somehow, that assertion is being cited as a false statement about a different matter -- an accusation that he leaked something to Richman. WTF??

So, are they saying he lied in 2017?? No, they can't because the statute of limitations ran out on any of those statements. So they are going after a 2020 statement about those statements?!
Perhaps I'm missing something but it sure sounds like these charges are absurdly flimsy -- like a rickety wooden bridge no one in their right mind would try to cross. Of course, we know Halligan and 47 aren't exactly operating with full decks, but this seems off-the-scale lunacy.

And of course, the next target is Letitia James for mortgage fraud that has likewise already been shown to be bullshit.
AI summary on that
Details surrounding the mortgage fraud allegations:
The origin of the referral: In April 2025, William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), referred allegations to the Justice Department, accusing James of falsifying documents to secure favorable loan terms on properties in Virginia and Brooklyn.
The core claim: Central to the investigation was a 2023 mortgage transaction for a Virginia home James co-borrowed for her niece. A limited power-of-attorney form signed by James mistakenly stated the Virginia property would be her principal residence. This contrasted with her status as New York Attorney General, which requires her to have primary residency in New York.
Contradictory evidence: James's attorney, Abbe Lowell, presented evidence that disproved the claim, including an email James sent to her mortgage broker prior to the closing stating, "this property WILL NOT be my primary residence".
The federal investigation: A five-month investigation by federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia found no clear evidence that James knowingly made false statements to a financial institution with the intent to defraud.
Continued political pressure:
Resignation of US Attorney: Erik Siebert, the US Attorney in charge of the investigation, was reportedly pressured by Trump officials to indict James despite the lack of evidence. Siebert resigned under pressure in September 2025.
Investigation continues: Following Siebert's resignation, the Department of Justice, under Attorney General Pam Bondi, reportedly appointed a new lead for the investigation and intends to press ahead with the case
