Charlie Sykes on that batshit UN speech:

Not since Uganda’s Idi Amin, festooned in a gold embroidered dark green uniform, ranted from the podium1 has the United Nations seen anything quite as weird and embarrassing as Wednesday’s performance by the American president.

As representatives of more than 190 nations sat in mostly stunned silence, Donald Trump told them their countries “were going to hell,” bragged about his poll numbers, made a pitch for the Nobel Prize, whinged about the escalator and teleprompter, bragged about blowing up boats, attacked windmills (again), declared that he was “right about everything,” lashed out at the mayor of London, meandered through a parade of lies, and generally made sh*t up.

Most news accounts don’t come close to capturing it, as much of the media seems intent on sane-washing Trump’s performance, using words like “scathing” or “meandering,” because headline writers shy away from words like “unhinged,” “deranged,” “unstable,” “crazed,” certifiable — and are generally reluctant to point out that the President of the United States is a crack-brained elderly man-child shouting at windmills and clouds.

I guess they're afraid of retaliation, but there's safety in numbers. Maybe.

https://charliesykes.substack.com/p/trumps-middle-finger-to-the-world

“I look at London, where you have a terrible mayor, terrible, terrible mayor.” [The mayor is Sadiq Khan, who responded: “I think people are wondering what it is about this Muslim mayor who leads a liberal, multicultural, progressive, successful city that means I appear to be living rent free inside Donald Trump’s head.”]

“In the United States, we have still radicalized environmentalists. And they want the factories to stop. Everything should stop. No more cows. We don’t want cows anymore. I guess they want to kill all the cows.” [Nobody wants to kill the cows. Unless it is to make more burgers. Obviously, a recycled line from one of his rally speeches to the MAGA faithful.]

“We have a border, strong. And we have a shape. And that shape doesn’t just go straight up. That shape is amorphous when it comes to the atmosphere.” [WTAF?]

I find it almost impossible to believe he used the word "amorphous".

Why he isn't in a straight jacket yet is beyond me.

We can't do anything about it because the Speaker of the House is protecting him! The Senate is protecting a demented, deranged convicted sex offender.

Which is just as insane as the crazy rant you heard at the UN!

I hate to say it, but it shows this government isn't the brilliant structure we've been taught to believe. Sure, the courts are holding things up in some spots, but the fact that we have this embarrassment and a wrecked government is proof than we have been failed by our government.

We will not tolerate it!!

Yes, there are measures that can be taken against Johnson and I am aware of them. Yes, they will result in the Epstein files exposing him and many others, probably some in the Senate. Yes, we will again have a decent government and we completely understand why you might not trust us.
