Think about it. Adherents are a mere 10%. That is the extent of the steadfast Charlie Kirk (and all the other Christian Nationalist demagogues) supporters.

We need to get it in our heads that the "them" -- the people hellbent on passing laws that impose their prejudices and religious beliefs on Americans who DO NOT SHARE those beliefs are a SMALL FRACTION of this nation.

We must focus, single-mindedly on opposing laws that force ANY religious beliefs on others. And in doing so, we MUST also say What You Believe is Your Business. That is America. We may strenuously disagree, but will defend your right to live your life as you choose as fiercely as we will defend the right of a Trans person to live their live as Who They Are.

With the exception of the 10% Christian Nationalist adherents, as Americans, this is one thing we can agree on: Every person has a right to peacefully live their life as Who They Choose to Be -- To love who they love and find their way to being the best selves they can be, on their OWN terms. If that means attending a church that believes same sex marriage is a sin. Fine. If it means choosing to transform ones sex from what they were born as, fine. As Americans, we ALL must support these FREEDOMs as essential American values.

While making it clear that we embrace religious diversity -- and that includes embracing people who peacefully live their lives in accord with a faith we find troubling -- we must denounce Christian nationalism as Un-American and Un-Christian. Always use the label "Christian Nationalism" and define it, over, and over, and over as seeking to pass laws that impose a Christian sects religious beliefs on people who do not share those beliefs.

Christian Nationalists are Un-America because they would deny other Americans Freedoms essential to living their lives, peacefully, as they choose. It is a violation of essential American values to pass laws that impose the religious beliefs of one group on Americans who do no share those beliefs.

Christian Nationalists are Un-Christian because, as TX Rep. James Talarico pointed out, the urge to control others exposes a profound lack of faith.

And we as Christians are called to realize that kingdom "on earth as it is in heaven," not by force, but by faith.

Jesus asked us to have the faith of a mustard seed, trusting that by living and dying for love we give birth to a better world.

Christian Nationalists are more committed to the love of power than the power of love.

And it exposes a lack of faith because the opposite of faith is not doubt. Doubt is a healthy part of any faith.

The opposite of faith is control. When we stop trusting God, when we stop trusting love, we start taking control for ourselves.

Christian Nationalists want to control what we read, who we marry, where we travel, when we have children. They want to control our minds and our bodies.

"O ye of little faith."

And as we do this, we need to make it clear that we have NO OBJECTION to the fact that people believe things we believe are wrong, we ONLY object to those who are obsessed with FORCING those beliefs on people who do not share them in the public square.

Be crystal clear. We embrace Christianity, as we do all faiths. Stop calling Christian Nationalists "Evangelicals" or "The Christian Right" -- Call them what they are, Un-American, and Un-Christian Christian Nationalists. Labels matter.

And if some demagogue says "I'm not a Christian Nationalist" then make sure they prove it by demonstrating that they too unequivocally denounce any attempt to pass laws that impose their religious beliefs on others.

While we support their right as Americans to believe what they believe, however bigoted, cruel, and immoral we may think those beliefs are, WE DO Unequivocally Denounce, and will work like crazy to make sure any and all attempts to pass laws based on those beliefs are defeated.

That is a message -- not preachy "our values are better than your values -- bullshit -- that will bring Christians back who have felt pushed out and feel "hated" by "the left" for their beliefs, even if they are natural allies because they are absolutely against passing laws that impose their beliefs on others.
